Borderlands 3: How to Change Weapon Skins | Game Rant

Borderlands 3 may contain millions of guns, but it also possesses a healthy supply of skins. While style isn’t everything, there is no reason players shouldn’t have great-looking weapons while they take on their enemies. With the Director’s Cut right around the corner, there will be even more weapons to use and more skins to put on them.

Borderlands 3 is a very menu-focused game when it comes to making any character changes, so it should come as no surprise that the same applies to weapons. To change weapon skins, players will need to open the main menu and go to their loadout. Players can then highlight any equipped weapon and inspect it. This can be done by selecting the weapon, then hitting E on PC, or pressing the right thumbstick on consoles.

Players on PC can then hit the X button or click on the small Change Skin option in the bottom right of the screen. This will bring up a list of available skins, and players then select the one they want and apply it to the weapon. On consoles, players can hit the X or Square buttons to open up the skins menu, select the skin they wish to use, and finally hit the A or X buttons to apply it to the weapon.

Players who want to get more skins can do so by playing the game. Random skins for weapons can drop as loot from enemies. Players who wish to take a bit more control over their look can purchase skins directly from Crazy Earl in the loading dock of The Sanctuary. Crazy Earl will only part with his stock of skins in exchange for Eridium, so players may need to farm some up before they can get what they want.

For a final bit of personal flair, players may want to put some trinkets on their weapons. These small ornaments hang from the weapons and can look like skulls, weapon manufacturer icons, or even tiny Claptraps. They can be earned through various means, such as world drops, missions rewards, or once again can be purchased from Crazy Earl.

Weapon personalization can be even more important in a game like Borderlands 3, where players will go through so many weapons as they play through the game’s content. Having preferred skins can add a sense of consistency, and it feels great to put a lovely-looking skin on some of the best weapons in the game, allowing players to make them their own.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
