Although item synthesis appeared in the original release of Kingdom Hearts, its later re-release, Kingdom Hearts 1.5, added several new items that Sora, Donald, and Goofy can craft in their adventures. One of the items needed for several of the more powerful synthesis items is Mythril Stone, which also happens to be one of the harder items to farm later in the game.
There are several locations in Kingdom Hearts where the player can find Mythril Stone inside chests or obtain them as drops by boss enemies. However, if they want to craft every available item to reach the Ultima Weapon, they will need more Mythril Stone than what is available as a guaranteed drop during the story.
Unfortunately, Mythril Stone is only found in one location on one Disney world, making it a pain to farm for before taking its low drop chance into account. If players want to gain more Mythril Stone, they will need to repeatedly defeat the Pot Scorpion found in Agrabah. That said, obtaining Mythril Stone isn’t so simple as killing it over and over again.
Like several other rare drops in the game, Mythril Stone will only appear if the player meets certain criteria while battling the Pot Scorpion which will need to be repeated every time they want to find more of this rare item.
If players have been trying to find Mythril Stone for some time, they may notice that no matter how many times the Pot Scorpion is killed, the item simply won’t drop, which can become very repetitive and frustrating if they are trying to reach the Ultima Weapon. However, there is a way to make sure players at least get a small chance for the item to drop, with a little work of course.
When encountering the Pot Scorpion, there will be twelve pots that Sora can attack, though the fight won’t begin until he attacks the one with the enemy in it. If the player tries to push a pot and it moves, this means that the Scorpion isn’t inside and can be broken freely without starting the battle. In order for the Mythril Stone to drop, Sora needs to break every pot except for the one holding the Scorpion before starting the battle. It can be very easy to accidentally break the wrong pot with the Keyblade, but using a spell such as Fire can make the chance to accidentally start the battle much lower.
In the original game, Mythril Stone is used mainly for making the AP Up items, as well as a handful of other useful equipable times like the Rune Armlett, Magic Armlett, and Dark Ring. In 1.5 Final Mix, however, it can be used to make a new weapon for Donald called Fantasista. This is an incredibly powerful staff that increases his MP by a whopping three points and grants Donald the highest MP buff of all his weapons.
Although he rarely needs it, Fantasista also grants Donald +3 to his Strength stat as well, meaning he doesn’t need to rely solely on his magic, though he won’t deal anywhere near as much damage as Sora or Goofy.
