Among Us Devs List Known Bugs After Airship Update | Game Rant

Among Us has had a transformative past year. Despite being widely available since 2018, it took a mid-2020 surge for Among Us to become a major presence in gaming. The success has led developer InnerSloth to completely change its plans, canceling Among Us 2 development to focus on sustained Among Us support. Now Among Us has received its first significant content update since InnerSloth refocused. Unfortunately, the update also brought forward a variety of bugs and issues.

The new Among Us update, referred to as the Airship update as it adds a new airship map for the social deduction game, arrived just yesterday. As such, InnerSloth is only just beginning to put together a list of ongoing errors with the new update. Some errors have already been solved. Other errors may or may not be fixed quickly. All that InnerSloth is doing is acknowledging their existence with plans to correct them as it’s able, for the time being.

One of the larger ongoing errors is an infinite loading screen when starting the game. As the description insinuates, players will try and start a game and will experience an infinite loading screen instead. For some players, this is a permanent issue, meaning they can’t play Among Us at all. InnerSloth says to try restarting the game, but if that doesn’t work, it is asking players to contact the team directly about the issue.

In-game bugs that can impart Among Us gameplay include getting stuck in place after a meeting. InnerSloth says opening and closing the Settings menu can fix this bug. Another is that some players see their sprites as pink rectangles, but this issue is limited to specific PC hardware. Randomized names will change every game until users select the “Randomize Name” option in their account settings. Also, some players are locked in Quick Chat mode despite being old enough to leave it.

Luckily, some of the bigger bugs have already been addressed. The Microsoft Store version of the game was prompting players to buy the game on Steam, for example. And the iOS version of the game had missing lava, invisible walls, and broken shadows for a brief time. InnerSloth is getting fixes rapidly, as it’s able.

New bugs introduced in the Airship update of Among Us serve as a reminder that InnerSloth is still a small indie team doing its best. All that success doesn’t make game development any easier. It’s a learning experience for devs and Among Us players alike.

Among Us is available now on Mobile, PC, and Switch, with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2021.
