The GameStop stock situation took the world by storm earlier this year, as Reddit users caused the company’s stock price to skyrocket. This resulted in widespread mainstream media coverage, not to mention a never-ending parade of memes. Now Epic Games has taken the GameStop stock memes to the next level, adding a Diamond Hanz skin to Fortnite based on the “Stonks” meme character.
For 1,200 V-Bucks, Fortnite players can purchase the To the Moon set, which includes the Diamond Hanz skin. The skin was clearly added to the popular battle royale as an April Fools’ Day joke, but unlike many other April Fools’ Day jokes, this one is real. Anyone that’s interested in adding the Diamond Hanz skin to their collection of Fortnite skins should act fast, as it’s unlikely to remain in the game for very long.
Fortnite‘s roster of skins has grown exponentially since the game first launched a few years ago. Epic Games has added all kinds of meme skins, emotes based on meme dances, and more to the game’s expansive pool of cosmetics. And as Fortnite‘s popularity persists, fans can expect new cosmetic content to be added for years to come.
Besides meme skins, Fortnite has plenty of completely original skins that players can choose from, plus skins based on other franchises. The Fortnite Season 5 theme was built entirely around crossovers with other media franchises, and as a result, Fortnite added a slew of skins based on those series. Everything from Alien to The Walking Dead was represented in Fortnite Season 5, along with a number of video game series.
Notably, Fortnite Season 5 featured characters from PlayStation and Xbox exclusive franchises, allowing them to interact in ways that were never possible before. This included Kratos from God of War as well as Master Chief from Halo, and so it will be interesting to see what future Fortnite crossover skins may have in store for the battle royale game.
Fortnite Season 6‘s theme is Primal, though it’s already added its fair share of crossover skins as well. This includes skins based on DC Comics characters, as well as skins based on Lara Croft of Tomb Raider fame. In the weeks ahead, Fortnite enthusiasts will likely be able to look forward to other skins that fit the Season 5 theme, though Epic Games has yet to provide exact details. For now, Fortnite enthusiasts can add the Stonk skin to their collection.
