Fans of Monster Hunter Rise know that the game’s difficulty spikes at a certain point. When players reach High-Rank quests, beginning with the 4-star tier at the Gathering Hub, enemy monsters suddenly have way more health and damage output. The Low-Rank gear that fledgling hunters may have spent hours grinding for becomes mostly obsolete at that point, and it’s necessary to seek out newer High-Rank materials for crafting. This guide will help High-Rank hunters find Fucium Ore, one of the most essential materials in Monster Hunter Rise.
Fucium Ore can be used to craft the Ingot armor set at the blacksmith. This is a solid armor that can get most any hunter through the majority of High-Rank quests, with 40 base defense on each piece and skills like Thunder Attack and Windproof that can be particularly useful on certain enemies. Fucium Ore is also required to upgrade weapons along the Ore Tree. While these options only scratch the surface of the best armor sets that can be made with High-Rank materials, it’s more than enough reason to see why taking an expedition or two in search of Fucium Ore could be beneficial.
Players will get their first opportunity to gather Fucium Ore when the Sandy Plains locale becomes accessible in its High-Rank form in 5-star Gathering Hub quests. There are several Mining Outcrops throughout the area to harvest from. One node can be quickly reached from the base camp by heading north and searching the eastern part of area 2. Even better, there are a couple of nodes to the west of area 5, which is just a short walk from the second sub-camp fast travel point. While in the Sandy Plains, savvy hunters may choose to stock up on Eroded Skeletons for other important gear upgrades.
The Flooded Forest is also not available in High Rank until 5-star quests. Players who need a gear upgrade prior to 5-star have other viable options to consider. As for finding Fucium Ore in the Flooded Forest, there are several Mining Outcrops surrounding the sub-camp near area 11. For hunters who have unlocked this fast travel point, harvesting lots of ore will be a breeze.
Players who have progressed to 6-star Gathering Hub quests will also have the option of collecting Fucium Ore from the Lava Caverns. Mining in this locale has the added benefit of potentially yielding the desirable Firecell Stone material. There are many Mining Outcrops in the Lava Caverns, but the vast majority are located in the subterranean zones of the map. In particular, there are multiple nodes bunched together in a hidden nook near area 11.
Fucium Ore is just one of the many materials that hunters will want to stock up on to stay well-equipped for upper-level quests in Monster Hunter Rise. Some of the most coveted materials are ones that players can only obtain with the help of some Buddies. Hunters who want to gear up for the difficult post-launch monsters being added with free title updates would do well to collect many high-end weapons and armor sets.
Monster Hunter Rise is now available on Nintendo Switch and a PC port is coming in 2022.
