Don’t play Guilty Gear Strive PC version in 4K, warns Arc System Works

Guilty Gear Strive

The PC version of Guilty Gear Strive is running into some trouble when played in 4K, the game’s developer has warned.

Arc System Works has posted a message to Guilty Gear Strive’s Steam page on its launch day, warning that the game is slowing down during certain scenes and modes.

“At this time, we would like to urge users to refrain from using 4K resolutions for online gameplay, while we continue to fix the issue,” Arc System Works warns PC users. “However, setting graphics quality to the lowest does help alleviate the issue a little.”

It’s a shame, because the game is a proper looker – even a quick glance at the video above will demonstrate just how good-looking the latest game in the long-running fighting series is.

If the game’s stellar reviews aren’t enough to tempt you towards this great little PS4/PS5/Steam fighter, you might be lured in by the fact that Guilty Gear Strive has the most in-depth tutorial of any fighting game our own Dorrani has ever played.

If you’re after something a little bit more designed to show off the graphics of the title, we’ve put together a reel of all the overdrive moves in Guilty Gear Strive which you can watch below instead.

It seems the 4K issues with the Steam version aren’t putting many people off, though; Guilty Gear Strive has already enjoyed about 30,000 concurrent peak players over on Steam.

That’s a better day one player number than Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5, and any other Guilty Gear game to date on Steam. Here’s hoping the game’s post-launch roadmap (adding more character, arenas, and skin colours) will keep the game’s fighting population alive and healthy for a long time to come.
