China Mobile commits to more open collaboration

China Mobile chairman Yang Jie outlined plans to cooperate more closely with industrial partners to build an information platform combining connectivity, intelligent computing and agile capabilities to boost the digital economy.

Speaking at the company’s annual Global Partners Conference in Guangzhou, Yang vowed to collaborate with partners to generate “greater social benefits” of 5G and accelerate its integration into various industries.

He called on industrial partners to contribute resources and expertise to develop the digital economy and lay out plans to deploy an intelligent computing platform.

Yang also noted China Mobile will speed up the upgrade of its infrastructure across the country to help develop intelligent productivity, adding: “New infrastructure, new resource allocation and new momentum are set to create unprecedented opportunities for industries’ transformation and development.”

China Mobile GM Dong Xin He said its 5G coverage would reach all rural areas by the end of 2022. It has installed about 560,000 base stations nationwide.
