Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro review: My new favorite gaming mouse

19 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Corsair’s latest wireless gaming mouse ticks all the right boxes.

Corsair covers the entire gamut of gaming accessories, with its recent K100 RGB keyboard setting a new standard for gaming keyboards. Today, I’m taking a look at another recent entrant that has made a tangible difference to my gaming setup: the Dark Core RGB Pro gaming mouse.

There’s no shortage of gaming mice, and the Dark Core RGB Pro holds its own against the best that Razer and Logitech have to offer right now. The mouse has Corsair’s Slipstream tech for sub-1ms wireless latency over 2.4GHz, a PixArt sensor that goes up to 18,000 DPI, battery life of over 30 hours, and USB-C connectivity.

In short, the Dark Core RGB Pro has everything you’re looking for in a wireless gaming mouse. I’ve used the mouse for a few months now, and here’s what makes it a great option.

Lifetime Plex Pass is down to $78 right now — but you need to act fast

16 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Plex is a local streaming service that lets you stream content from your media library to all devices in your home. While the service itself is free to use, there’s a Plex Pass tier that brings a host of exciting features, including the ability to download shows to your phone or tablet for offline viewing, recording live TV broadcasts, shared libraries, and so much more.

Plex Pass is usually $4.99 a month, $39.99 annually, and the lifetime pass costs $120. But right now, there’s a 20% off on the lifetime subscription using promo code SEEYA2020 that brings it down to $96. But you can use an easy workaround where you change the country in the credit card payment window to Brazil to bring the cost down to BRL399, which is just $78. The deal itself is valid only until 11:59am PT on December 18, so sign up now at Plex to unlock the $42 savings on the lifetime Plex Pass subscription.

Plex Pass: What is it, and should you subscribe?

16 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Plex is the best local media streaming solution around, and Plex Pass turbocharges the service.

If you have a lot of locally-stored media and want to stream it to various connected devices in your home, you’ll need a local streaming client like Plex. All you need to do is install Plex Media Server on the device where your media collection is housed. Ideally, that should be a home server like a NAS — I’ve rounded up the best NAS for Plex, so if you don’t already have a storage enclosure, you can look through the list to get started.

Plex itself is free to use and straightforward to set up, but there’s a paid tier called Plex Pass that unlocks a host of added features. Plex Pass costs $4.99 a month, $39.99 yearly, or you can pick up a lifetime subscription by shelling out $120. So let’s take a look at what Plex Pass has to offer, and whether it makes sense for you to switch to the paid tier.

Plex Pass is worth it just for mobile sync

Here’s why I’m excited for the Exynos-powered Galaxy S21

16 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Samsung is finally fixing the biggest issue with its Exynos chipsets in 2021.

Samsung’s flagships are often the best Android phones, but the South Korean manufacturer is unique in the way it releases phones. Samsung’s dual-sourcing strategy means that a select few markets like North America and Korea feature flagships powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets, with most other countries getting Exynos chipsets instead.

Samsung used this strategy to great effect over the last six years, and it doesn’t look like that’s set to change in 2021. The U.S. version of the Galaxy S21 series will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 chipset, with the global versions set to feature the upcoming Exynos 2100.

The reason Samsung doesn’t use Exynos chipsets globally is down to carrier compatibility. Qualcomm makes the best cellular modems in the industry, and for the 4G era, Samsung didn’t really have a recourse but to use Qualcomm’s designs in the U.S. to ensure compatibility with the l…

Here’s how to upgrade RAM in your Synology NAS

12 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

It’s pretty straightforward to upgrade the RAM in a Synology NAS enclosure. Most NAS models released in the last two years feature upgradeable RAM, and if you’re running into issues when multitasking on the NAS, you can always increase the memory. Here’s how to upgrade the RAM in a Synology NAS.

Products used in this guide

The ideal NAS: Synology DiskStation DS220+ ($299 at Amazon)
Obvious memory upgrade: Crucial 4GB DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM ($17 at Amazon)

How to upgrade RAM in a Synology NAS

If you bought a NAS enclosure in the last three years, there’s a good chance that it is running DDR4 memory. But just to be on the safe side, head to the product page of your Synology NAS to make sure whether the model you have is using DDR4 or the older DDR3 memory. There are some models like the DiskStation DS220j that don’t let you upgrade the RAM, so make sure you have a NAS that has a memory slot available.

NAS enclosures have SO-DIMM (small outline dual in-line memory module) slots, and as…

Does the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE actually have a display problem?

8 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

The Galaxy S20 FE’s screen issues continue to persist even after three software updates.

The Galaxy S20 FE is currently one of the best Android phones you can buy today. Samsung is essentially offering the same hardware and camera as the regular Galaxy S20 for several hundred dollars less, and other than a polycarbonate chassis and FHD+ panel, the S20 FE doesn’t really miss out on much.

But like all phones, the S20 FE isn’t without its share of issues. The biggest problem facing the phone is touchscreen issues, with users reporting issues with the display just a few weeks after the phone went on sale. Samsung has rolled out several updates to fix the problem, but that does not seem to have worked as of now. So let’s take a look at the Galaxy S20 FE screen issues, and what Samsung is doing to address it.

I used the new Google Pay for over two years — here’s why it’s amazing

6 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

All the new features in Google Pay make it the best payments platform on Android.

Google overhauled Google Pay in the U.S. with a brand new design and exciting feature additions like cashback rewards and the ability to send and receive money from friends and family with ease. Oh, and because Google likes building messaging services so much, it baked one right into Google Pay so you can text your contacts from within the payments platform.

While these features are making their way to the U.S. for the first time, customers in India have had access to these features for a few years now. The redesigned Google Pay is based on a payments platform that Google introduced in India over three years ago, called Tez. Tez means fast in Hindi, and the service was built from the ground up for Indian users and works on the country’s centralized Unified Payments Interface platform.

The Snapdragon 888 is here to turbocharge 2021 Android flagships

1 12 月, 2020 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Qualcomm unveils its 2021 flagship chipset, but it may not be making its way to a Samsung flagship.

What you need to know

The Snapdragon 888 is now official, with Qualcomm touting significant gains in 5G, gaming, and GPU performance.
The chipset features the X60 5G modem and a new Hexagon engine for AI-related tasks.
14 Android manufacturers will release phones powered by the Snapdragon 888, but Samsung is a curious omission in the list.

Qualcomm has introduced its 2021 flagship chipset at the annual Snapdragon Tech Summit. The Snapdragon 888 will power most flagships released next year, with Xiaomi already announcing that its upcoming Mi 11 series will be one of the first phones powered by the chipset.

We’ll have a much more detailed breakdown of all the new tech in the Snapdragon 888 later this week, but for now, what you need to know is that the chipset comes with Qualcomm’s third-generation X60 5G modem. The modem includes global Sub-6 and mmWave connectivity, global mult…
