XGIMI Elfin LED projector review: This tiny projector gets a lot right

31 8 月, 2021 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

XGIMI once again delivers a projector that hits well above its weight.

XGIMI carved out a name for itself in the projector segment with its Halo and Mogo portable projectors, and more recently it has ventured into the high-end 4K projector category with the Horizon Pro. Its latest offering takes the best features from both product lines and combines them in an affordable package.

The Elfin isn’t a traditional portable projector in that it misses out on a built-in battery, but the lightweight design makes it easy to carry around, and auto keystone correction means you can set it up in a matter of moments. The biggest differentiator is that at $649, the Elfin retails for $150 less than the Halo, making it that much more enticing if you don’t mind the fact that it needs to be plugged in.

So if you’re looking for an affordable projector for home use that’s easily portable when you need to move it between rooms or carry it to a friend or family’s house, the Elfin may just be the ideal …

Synology C2 Transfer is a secure file transfer service with 20GB uploads

26 8 月, 2021 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Synology’s new file transfer service makes it easier than ever to send large files securely.

Synology is making a big play for cloud services with the C2 family. It introduced a free password manager called C2 Password a month ago, and is now rolling out C2 Transfer, a secure file transfer service that lets you share files of up to 20GB.

C2 Transfer lets you set download limits and add watermarks — and all data is end-to-end encrypted.

C2 Transfer is now live, and as an added incentive, Synology is allowing a generous 90-day free trial for anyone interested in taking a look at the service. While C2 Password is aimed at regular users, Synology is targeting business with C2 Transfer; the service is designed to allow organizations to send “important and potentially sensitive” data to clients securely.

With C2 Transfer, you’ll be able to send files up to 20GB in size, and there are safeguards to ensure only the intended recipient gets to view the data. You’ll be able to furnish…

Xiaomi Mi QLED TV 75 review: The best value for large-screen TVs

26 8 月, 2021 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Xiaomi’s biggest TV is also its best.

My TV viewing habits over the course of the pandemic have been erratic to say the least. I dove into my Netflix queue with gusto last August only to be immediately letdown with the quality of the content; Netflix’s strategy of greenlighting every idea it comes across is starting to wear thin.

And even though I have plenty of great TV shows and movies to stream from Disney+ Hotstar, Prime Video, and the more niche services (MUBI is an easy recommendation), I just couldn’t get myself to do so for most of 2021. Other than the bi-weekly Formula 1 event, I didn’t bother with switching on the TV for most of 2021. Although I got the Mi QLED TV over four months ago, I didn’t stream enough content to justify writing a full review.

Instead, I read a lot of books; I aim to hit at least 75 books a year, but I fell woefully short of that goal last year , so I tried to change things in 2021. I went through 30 books in the last four months, including a yearl…

How to fix Plex migration issues in Synology DSM 7.0

23 8 月, 2021 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

The DSM 7.0 update comes with a lot of exciting changes, including new features and better security. One of the security-focused changes is how the system handles root privileges; Synology now prohibits services like Plex Media Server and other packages from gaining root privileges, and has restrictions on file system access.

While this is a welcome move, the security changes have led to issues with Plex installations. As a result, when you switch from DSM 6.2 to DSM 7.0, you will see a message to repair your Plex installation and migrate the data. Doing so is pretty straightforward, and you’ll need to manually assign permissions so that Plex can see your media library and run in the background.

Using Plex as a centralized media server is one of the best use cases for the NAS; I’ve outlined the best NAS for Plex to make the most out of streaming your media library to your connected devices. If you’ve made the switch to DSM 7.0 and are encountering issues with your Plex installation…

Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT review: The obvious upgrade for PS5 gamers

21 8 月, 2021 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

Corsair’s latest headset combines great sound with a plush design — and it connects seamlessly with the PS5.

Corsair’s core business lies in memory modules and PC accessories like the K100 gaming keyboard, but in recent years, the manufacturer has broadened its reach, designing products that work with consoles as well as PCs.

We already looked at the Virtuoso gaming headset, which has a range of options to connect to the PS5, and Corsair now has a new model in the series that’s focused on the high-end segment. The Virtuoso XT is highly versatile, featuring Corsair’s 2.4GHz Slipstream mode for low-latency wireless connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, wired USB, or 3.5mm.

The headset works wirelessly with the PS5 using Slipstream tech or by plugging into the DualSense controller, and it has the potential to be one of the best PS5 headsets you can find in the market today. So if you’re in the market for a gaming headset for your PS5, here’s what you need to know about the Virtuoso XT.

OxygenOS 12: Everything you need to know about OnePlus’ Android 12 version

21 8 月, 2021 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

OxygenOS 12 is coming soon with exciting new features and tighter integration with ColorOS.

Software is a big part of why OnePlus’ devices are considered the best Android phones. OnePlus has turned OxygenOS into one of the best software interfaces around, delivering a clean layout with plenty of customizability and timely updates.

There’s a new dimension to that narrative in 2021. OnePlus is now using ColorOS as the foundation for OxygenOS in a bid to streamline resources between the two entities, and that means there are changes afoot. We got an early look at the integration with OxygenOS 11.3 on the Nord 2, but we’ll have to wait until OxygenOS 12 to get a complete picture of what this merger will have to offer.

OxygenOS 12 is debuting with OnePlus 9 RT, a new variant in the OnePlus 9 numbered series that’s set to make its debut in the coming months. While there’s little in the way of official information around OxygenOS 12, I’ve managed to get my hands on an internal build and …

Synology DSM 7.0 review: The best NAS software gets even better

19 8 月, 2021 Harish Jonnalagadda 0

With a modern UI and dozens of useful features, DSM 7.0 sets a very high bar for NAS software.

Synology makes the best home NAS enclosures, and a big part of what makes its products stand out is the software. Over the years, DiskStation Manager (DSM) emerged as the runaway leader for NAS software thanks to its clean layout and robust feature-set. With DSM 6.0 in particular, Synology was able to carve out a healthy lead over its rivals.

That said, DSM 6.0 launched all the way back in 2016, and while Synology rolled out regular updates with new features and version releases like DSM 6.2, the interface was getting a bit long in the tooth. Synology is now aiming to fix that with DSM 7.0, its most ambitious software release yet. DSM 7.0 introduces a much more modern UI and comes with exciting new photo management and cloud features, and the best part is that it is available for all Synology NAS enclosures released within the last seven years.

I started using the beta build of DSM 7.0 o…
