Best Fighting Games for Android 2020

11 12 月, 2020 Jordan Palmer 0

Bring the classic arcade action you remember to your phone with these great fighting games!

Fighting games have fallen to the wayside on the latest consoles (and the less said about the state of arcades the better) but for a long while, fighting games reigned supreme in the video game world. They were often the battleground where gamers showed off their skills in arcade tournaments or huddled around a TV with your best pals. Fortunately, the genre is still well-represented on mobile devices, with a great mix of ports and original titles to satisfy fans of fisticuffs.

Here’s hoping we see more ports of classic fighting titles but until then, enjoy these great fighters. And when you’re done here, be sure to head over to the best Android games list to check out some other great games!

The games

Shadow Fight 3
King of Fighters ’97
Mortal Kombat
Real Boxing 2
Injustice 2
Fighting Tiger – Liberal
Skullgirls
Street Fighter IV
Prizefighters
Real Steel World Robot Boxing
Brawlhalla

In 2020, cloud streaming games became mainstream, but it’s not perfect

10 12 月, 2020 Jordan Palmer 0

Gaming is more accessible than ever, but cloud streaming still has some work to do.

Looking back at this year, it’s clear that 2020 has been rough on a lot, if not all, of us in some way or another. While I’m fortunate enough to be able to work from home, I know some lost their jobs, their loved ones, and part of their sanity due to the hellish events in the last several months. Personally, I got hit with a rather bad case of COVID-19 that knocked me for a loop, to put it lightly.

One thing that has remained strong in 2020 is gaming. Being stuck at home saw more people than ever playing video games, making high-profile releases like Animal Crossing: New Horizons even more successful than they might have otherwise been. We’ve also seen incredible demand for consoles, arguably more than just holiday season fervor. There are more reasons than ever to get into gaming, but with “next gen” here, there’s simultaneously more demand than ever, too.

Yet despite the wrenches 2020 threw at ev…

I regret not playing the amazing Eternium sooner

7 12 月, 2020 Jordan Palmer 0

This ARPG is absolutely incredible, and I recommend it for any genre fans.

When it comes to picking a game and sitting down to play it, there are times when I’m just so excited by what I’ve experienced that I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Such is the case with this week’s Android Game of the Week. It’s called Eternium, and it’s been around for a little while, but oh man, do I love this game.

Many are the reasons why it’s so good, but first and foremost is the attention to touchscreen controls. Rarely do I fail to lament the lack of gamepad support in a particular title, but with Eternium, the controls are so incredibly well done that I completely forgot about using a controller. That just doesn’t happen very often, especially in a mobile ARPG.

When I first took over this series, my initial post was about Anima, a straight-up Diablo clone for Android. I also wrote about the classic Titan Quest, a mostly good port of the 2006 game. Both are great ARPGs, but Eternium surpa…

Moonshades is a near perfect example of a 3D dungeon crawler

16 11 月, 2020 Jordan Palmer 0

Nostalgia and good game design at their finest.

Here at Android Central, we love checking out all kinds of games in our Android Game of the Week highlight. A little while back, I talked about Grim Quest, which hearkened back to old school dungeon crawlers. This week, we’re checking out another game in a similar vein: Moonshades. And I gotta tell ya; this game is good.

If you grew up with the likes of Wizardry or Eye of the Beholder, I think you’ll love Moonshades. It’s a 3D dungeon crawler RPG with engaging combat, a serviceable story, and a true sense of immersion that draws you into the game. You begin to feel invested right off the bat, and any game that can capture you that easily is worth noting.

You’ll be fighting all kinds of fantastical beasts and monsters in a great variety of gear. Puzzles abound, and some are really quite challenging to solve. Combat is real-time, so you have to think on your feet. The game has a good pace to it, and I think going turn-based would h…

Genshin Impact is a new leap forward for cross-platform gaming

26 10 月, 2020 Jordan Palmer 0

It makes you wonder if this will become more common.

At the time of writing, Genshin Impact is my new favorite mobile game (even unseating CoD Mobile) and deserves a spot in our Android Game of the Week highlight. So what makes this action RPG special?

There are a few different factors at play with Genshin Impact. Not only is it a pretty game, but it supports cross-save between the PC and mobile (both Android and iOS) versions. Sadly, that is not the case with the PS4. If you play on PC, you can pick up where you left off on your phone and vice versa. To my knowledge, this has never been the case.

The whole game has a bit of a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild vibe to it. The open-world is just begging to be explored, and you’re generally free to do so. There are secrets to unlock, places to see, and puzzles to solve.

Combat is a ton of fun, too. You will travel with a party, and you can switch between members of your party to line up a perfect combo and use other abilities…

Find the imposter or sabotage the mission in Among Us

21 9 月, 2020 Jordan Palmer 0

Whichever you end up with, this game is one hell of a blast.

This week’s Android Game of the Week is called Among Us, and to say that it is popular is a bit of an understatement. It’s spawned a metric ton of memes on Reddit, it’s taken over my Twitch feed, and it seems to be a game that everyone wants to play. I just learned earlier this week that there was a mobile version, and it supports cross-play with PC and iOS. Jumping on the bandwagon, I figured I’d give the game a shot.

While not my cup of tea of personally, the game itself is very good and certainly worth highlighting here. Among Us has been out for a little while now, but the recent surge in popularity has even seen it overtake Fall Guys in popularity. Its very cute, simplistic art style is appealing to just about everyone, not to mention its incredibly basic, yet surprisingly complex, premise.

I’m not afraid to admit when I’ve sat on, or completely missed, something that later becomes popular. I didn’t even know wh…
