17 11 月, 2020 Nicholas Sutrich 0

From the headset to all the official accessories, here’s every link you need.

Facebook kept the Oculus Quest 2 tightly under wraps until about mid-August when the floodgates opened, and leaks started appearing on the web. Facebook officially announced the Oculus Quest at Facebook Connect on September 16, 2020.

The Oculus Quest 2 represents a major step forward for wireless VR, as we’ve pointed out in our Oculus Quest 2 review. It features substantially improved performance and graphics over the original Oculus Quest, adds in more RAM, a 50% higher resolution display, 3D audio, additional storage options, and even better ergonomics for the headset and controllers.

The Oculus Quest 2 with 64GB of storage retails for $299, while the model with 256GB of storage retails for $399. Neither model supports expandable storage, so make sure you grab the bigger one if you like to install a lot of games at once.

Here’s where to buy the Oculus Quest 2

Sony confirms PS4 PSVR games can be enhanced on PS5

10 11 月, 2020 Nicholas Sutrich 0

Looks like PS4 PSVR games are getting PS5-specific enhancements after all.

What you need to know

Sony confirmed that PS4 PSVR games running on a PS5 can see enhanced resolution and framerate.
Games had to have been created using dynamic resolution and unlocked framerate in order to qualify.
PS4 games cannot be specifically enhanced when running on PS5.

In a PS5 blog post, Sony confirmed that PS4 PSVR games running on a PS5 could see enhanced visuals and framerates, contrary to what was thought in the past. a Tweet (via UploadVR) from PlayStation London Studio even goes so far as to say their PSVR game, Blood & Truth, will run on the PS5 with a higher resolution, framerate up to 90 fps, the highest detail assets used at all times, and even improved textures over the PS4 version of the game.

Sony’s PSVR strategy on the PS5 has, thus far, been a bit murky. As recently as a week ago, it appeared that most, if not all PSVR games running on PS5 would only be able to utilize the P…

Linksys Velop AX4200 review: Streaming with the greatest of ease

6 11 月, 2020 Nicholas Sutrich 0

Cozy up to Wi-Fi 6 anywhere you could possibly want it — even outside.

Linksys Velop products regularly top our list of best mesh routers, and the new Linksys Velop AX4200 is a more affordable version of our favorite Wi-Fi 6 mesh system. It may offer a lower maximum theoretical wireless speed than the higher-end Velop MX5/MX10, but it doesn’t cut out any of the important features or compatibility with other Linksys products that make the Velop family so darned good.

It’s also a lot less money — for $500, you’ll be getting a 3-pack of Velop AX4200’s which are rated to cover over 8,000 square feet of space. Compare that with the Velop MX10, which is $600 for a 2-pack that only covers 6,000 square feet, and you’ll immediately understand the value proposition. Since it’s Wi-Fi 6, you can use advanced high-speed wireless devices like the Oculus Quest 2 in ways that Wi-Fi 5 just didn’t allow.

On top of that, each Velop AX4200 node sports three usable gigabit LAN ports, giving you ni…

Will the Oculus Quest 2 have a physical IPD slider?

31 10 月, 2020 Nicholas Sutrich 0

Best answer: Yes, the Oculus Quest 2 features manual IPD adjustment via sliding lenses, but it relies on three presets — a change from the original Oculus Quest.

A better fit: Oculus Quest 2 (From $299 at Amazon)

A trifecta bet with the Oculus Quest 2

The Oculus Quest 2, thankfully, still features physical IPD (inter-pupillary distance) adjustment for its lenses. Unlike the original Oculus Quest, however, the Oculus Quest 2 relies on three presets to get the job done. Users can easily slide the lenses themselves between presets simply labeled 1, 2, and 3 before placing the Oculus Quest 2 on their heads.

By default, the Oculus Quest 2 sits at the 2 preset, which should cover the average person’s IPD between 62-65mm. Sliding the lenses inward toward each other will move them to preset 1, which should cover folks with an IPD between 58-61mm. Subsequently, sliding the lenses away from each other to the furthest point, labeled 3, should cover users with IPD between 66-70mm.

Quest 2 has allegedly been jailbroken, bypassing Facebook login requirement

26 10 月, 2020 Nicholas Sutrich 0

There’s no ETA on public availability yet.

What you need to know

Someone claims to have jailbroken the Quest 2, bypassing the requirement to log in to a Facebook account to use the device.
Independent XR research firm XRSI says they have verified the legitimacy of the jailbreak claim.
Rooting the device and bypassing the Facebook login could be in violation of Facebook Terms of Service.

Ever since Facebook originally announced that a Facebook account will be required on Oculus headsets, folks have been asking the community for an alternative way to use their Oculus Quest 2. Following-up on a claim from someone on Reddit one week ago, independent research firm XRSI, a not-for-profit organization, says it has confirmed the viability of root access on the Oculus Quest 2.

While root access is generally thought of as a way to flash ROMs or modify the operating system in the Android smartphone world, root access on a Quest 2 means folks would be able to bypass the requirement to log …

Facebook is banning some Oculus players who use more than one headset

24 10 月, 2020 Nicholas Sutrich 0

Another Facebook policy looks to be punishing loyal users.

What you need to know

Oculus Support says that users who use their Facebook account on more than one Oculus device are violating Facebook Terms of Service (ToS).
Violating the Facebook ToS can result in your Facebook account getting banned, making it impossible to use your Oculus devices.
Many users have been facing Facebook account bans since the Oculus account merger began in early October.

In a shocking move, Facebook’s Oculus Support team has confirmed that users with multiple Oculus headsets may not use the same Facebook account on each headset at the same time. This means that folks with an Oculus Rift and an Oculus Quest headset, or even multiple Oculus Quest headsets (or any combination thereof) would not be able to use their legitimate Facebook-linked Oculus account on two or more headsets simultaneously. Doing so, according to an Oculus Support representative, violates Facebook’s ToS, which could result in a Fa…

The Walking Dead Onslaught ‘Combat Rebalance Patch’ is a huge overhaul

What you need to know

The Walking Dead Onslaught ‘Combat Rebalance Patch’ is now available for download on PC and PSVR platforms.
Combat has been overhauled, including ranged and melee weapons, difficulty, and even walker behavior.
Additional quality-of-life changes include things like Valve Index grip improvements and options for left-handed players.

The Walking Dead Onslaught ‘Combat Rebalance Patch’ is exactly what players and critics alike have been asking for since the game launched a few weeks ago. While the game looks great on a powerful PC or a PS4, many players cited the gameplay as a source of disappointment. Following the release of this much-anticipated VR-exclusive zombie-killing action title, developers Survios faced a wave of criticism regarding the game’s designs, ranging from the overpowered starting knife to the small number of zombies present on screen.

True to its pedigree, Survios has now released a patch that signif…
