Examining where the events of Ragnarok may take players.

God of War Ragnarok, the next big game from Sony Santa Monica, is aiming to close out the Norse saga. While the prior game set up a lot of leads, there’s still a lot that needs to happen and many iconic characters we haven’t even seen yet. If you happen to be unfamiliar with the events leading up to Ragnarok, we have the full God of War timeline and history, which will give you the complete story so far.

The 2018 God of War is one of my favorite games of the last several years and if what we’ve seen of God of War Ragnarok so far is any indicated, this sequel will be one of the best PS5 games available.

As a big fan of both God of War and Norse mythology, I decided to analyze the first full trailer for God of War Ragnarok and make some predictions based on what we’ve seen. After all, the director of the game has confirmed that Ragnarok will feature as an actual event, but that doesn’t mean this will be a straightforward story…

During the Sept. 2020 PS5 games showcase, a sequel to the 2018 God of War was announced through a quick teaser as the “here’s one more thing” moment to close the show. I was so excited I could barely comprehend anything that happened afterward, as my coworkers can attest. Initially known only as the next God of War, the official title was revealed during the Sep. 2021 PlayStation Showcase as God of War Ragnarok.

The long-running God of War franchise has sprawled across several PlayStation games starring Kratos, the titular Greek God of War himself. If you’re a newcomer to the franchise or you simply haven’t played one of these games in a while, events might seem a little confusing, especially now that we’re talking about Norse gods. That’s why I’ve put together a timeline of the key events and characters, all leading up to the latest entry in the series, God of War Ragnarok, a game that’s slated to arrive for PS4 and PS5 at some point in 2022. What is Ghostwire: Tokyo? There are a lot of unknowns, but it looks to be mysterious and creepy in the best ways possible.

At Bethesda’s E3 2019 press conference, they showed off two entirely brand new IPs — one of them was called Ghostwire: Tokyo. Creative director Ikumi Nakamura took the stage with a level of confidence, enthusiasm, and sincerity that immediately charmed the audience and deeply contrasted with the level of creepiness and dark aesthetic beauty of the trailer she led into. Whatever Ghostwire: Tokyo is exactly, the concepts for it presented in a CGI video look incredible.

Since then, more has been revealed, with some significant footage shown during Sony’s June 2020 PS5 showcase, the Future of Gaming. Fans of superhero games, rejoice. Insomniac Games, in a clear attempt to live up its name, aren’t just tackling the web-slinger anymore. During the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase, Insomniac Games announced not just one but two new superhero games that PlayStation owners can look forward to playing. One of these announcements is that Insomniac Games is working on Marvel’s Wolverine. The other is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a game starring Peter Parker and Miles Morales that also introduces Venom to the game universe.

Sony was clear to stress that Marvel’s Wolverine is very early in development for the PS5, possibly even being the farthest-out PlayStation exclusive game that we know about right now. Insomniac Games, one of the premiere studios at Sony Worldwide Studios, is working on Marvel’s Wolverine for the PS5. It’s described as a “standalone” game and is being led by the same team that worked on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, with creative director Brian Horton and game director Cameron Christian.
