If you’re new to the points and miles game, it can be a bit overwhelming, to say the least. My first piece of advice for friends and family members just getting into the hobby is simple: Pick up a travel rewards credit card. Doing this gives you a way to earn points on everyday purchases and earn a huge sum of points with its included sign-up bonus.

It’s a solid beginner travel credit card that’s currently offering a huge 80,000-point sign-up bonus that’s worth $1,600 per TPG’s most recent valuation. The card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which can be used to book everything from first-class flights to luxurious hotel …

Travel is slowly beginning to rebound from its lows earlier in the spring. Whenever you plan on moving about again, it’s important to remember to take advantage of all your travel card benefits. There’s one complimentary Amex card benefit that is not often mentioned — and it caught my attention recently.

That perk is a membership to a little-known program called the Travel Collection, and its accompanying $295-per-year set of benefits. Don’t be confused by the name. This is, in fact, different than Amex’s similarly branded Hotel Collection program.

The Travel Collection is designed to save you money on airfare, cruises, rental cars and gives you exclusive perks at some hotels — while also conne…

The Chase Sapphire Reserve and the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card are two of the most talked-about travel credit cards, thanks to the valuable Ultimate Rewards program, top-notch benefits and valuable travel protections.

You might assume that the Chase Sapphire Reserve — which comes with a higher annual fee and more luxury benefits — is always the better choice. It is the higher-tier card, but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily the better card for you. With the Chase Sapphire Preferred offering a higher sign-up bonus of 80,000 points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months and travel understandably on the back burner for many cardholders, there are plenty of reasons why it could be the m…

Late in 2018, the American Express® Gold Card tweaked its benefits to become an extremely solid rewards card that deserves a spot in many wallets, including mine.

The card retained its annual up to $100 airline fee credit, doubled its earning rate at restaurants — and made it for dining worldwide — and U.S. supermarkets to an impressive 4x points (up to $25,000 per calendar year; then 1x for the latter) and introduced up to $120 in dining credits each calendar year — all with a snazzy metal design.

The Amex Gold has a public welcome offer of 35,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months and an annual fee of $250 (see rates and fees). Based …

Summer is upon us and every state has at least partially reopened. While travel is slowly picking up again, it’s fair to say that many people will choose to stick closer to home this summer and embark on road trips instead of taking the skies.

It probably goes without saying that points and miles are best for first-class flight redemptions and high-end hotel stays. However, with a little bit of research and planning, you can still get terrific use from them with road trips. Your road trip can also be a great opportunity to quickly rack up a significant amount of points and miles for when you are ready for that more exotic vacation.

Editor’s note: This post has been updated to include more details provided by Chase.

If you’ve been looking into applying for a Chase credit card recently, you may have noticed some differences in the process. For one, some of Chase’s credit cards are not currently showing up on the site. Additionally, other cards are requiring a sign-in before you can apply.

Today, I’m walking through some of those changes and how they might affect cardholders looking to apply for new Chase credit cards in the coming months.

Removal of some cards from the Chase site

We’ve received a few tips from TPG readers that some cards have disappeared from the Chase site. These include the Chase Slate, the United Club Busin…
