21 3 月, 2020 Stephen Warwick 0

“This community has supported Netflix through the good times, and we want to help them through these hard times…”

What you need to know

Netflix has announced it has set up a $100 million fund amidst the coronavirus outbreak.
The money will go towards “hardship in the creative community”.
Much of this money will go to workers on its own productions, but at least $15 million will go to third parties and non-profits.

Netflix has announced the creation of a $100 million coronavirus fund to help the creative community during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a press release Friday, March 20 it said:

The Covid-19 crisis is devastating for many industries, including the creative community. Almost all television and film production has now ceased globally – leaving hundreds of thousands of crew and cast without jobs. These include electricians, carpenters, drivers, hair and makeup artists and more, many of whom are paid hourly wages and work on a project-to-project basis.

Tidal is offering 4 months of its higher-quality music service for just $4

21 3 月, 2020 Phil Nickinson 0

That’s not $4 a month — it’s $4. Period. For its Premium or HiFi services.

We’re all looking to spend a little less money these days, and it’s tough to beat this one. Streaming music service Tidal has a promotion running that nets you four months of service for just $4. That’s not $16 spread out over four months. It’s $1 a month. A grand total of $4. Quite possibly less than your less cup of coffee cost.

So, yeah. Now’s a really good time to give Tidal a go. (And this deal is good in the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Poland.)

Tidal’s claim to fame, if you’ve yet to give it a try, is that it offers a higher quality stream of music than just about anyone. And it’s owned by artists like Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Calvin Harris, Madonna, Usher, Lil Wayne, J. Cole and more.

Tidal comes in two flavors — Premium and HiFi. Premium basically is what you get when you set any other music service to its highest setting. HiFi ramps things up even more — a…

Save £10 on a Disney Plus subscription ahead of its official UK release

21 3 月, 2020 Jared DiPane 0

If you reside in the UK and have been waiting for Disney Plus to become officially available, the wait is nearly over. Starting March 24, customers across the UK, Italy, Spain, and more will have access to all the content, and signing up before then scores you a nice extra discount on the annual subscription. Normally, Disney would charge £59.99 for the yearly subscription, but right now you can save £10 on that price, making it just £49.99 for 12 months.

This breaks down to just £4.17 per month, which is around the same price as a single cup of coffee. The offer is available through the end of March 23, and if you sign up on March 24 you’ll be stuck paying the full £59.99 price. Given the recent Coronavirus concerns, odds are that you’ll be spending much more time indoors, whether you planned for it or not. Streaming services like Disney Plus are a great way to help pass that time.

Dear Samsung, please copy Apple’s new iPad Pro keyboard design!

21 3 月, 2020 Jerry Hildenbrand 0

Tablet keyboards suck, and a fresh way might be the right way.

Happy Saturday-ing at home, peeps! Today we’re going to talk about tablets!

It seems like most people on the Android side of tech aren’t really into tablets, not even the ones who run things at Google. I fall into that category, but a big reason why is that they really aren’t that great when you try to get any work done with one. You need an external keyboard (and maybe even a mouse) to type more than a few words and tablet keyboards have a long history of being giant pieces of crap that you only used because there was no better alternative.

I get it. A tablet is designed to be light and portable and if you attach a substantial keyboard to one like ASUS did with the old Transformer series you end up with a laptop, so you might as well be using a Chromebook or a MacBook Air. Samsung must know this because it tried to address the situation with the Galaxy Tab S6’s first-party keyboard that was stiff and sturdy in some of…

Google Photos will now show you exactly where an image came from

21 3 月, 2020 Muhammad Jarir Kanji 0

The feature is currently only available on the Photos web app, unfortunately.

What you need to know

Google is adding new ‘uploaded from’ and ‘shared by’ categories to images’ metadata in Photos.
As the names suggest, these bits of information can help you more quickly identify where an image comes from.
The change is only live in the Photos web app, however, with no word on when/if the iOS and Android apps will also get the feature.

If you’ve got an extensive photo library — and who doesn’t these days? — it might be hard to keep track of exactly where everything’s coming from. To help with that dilemma, Google has updated the ‘Info’ panel in Photos to show more two bits of information about each file.

These are ‘uploaded from’ and ‘shared by.’ As their names suggest, both pieces of metadata are designed to help you narrow down an image’s provenance with greater specificity.

The ‘uploaded from’ field shows whether the image was uploaded via an Android or iOS device, the web…
