Uber’s New Rideshare Tier Is the Height of Comfort

Uber has introduced a cozy category that promises maximum well-being during your ride.

Situated between the high-class Uber Black and the more popular Uber X, the new Uber Comfort offers amenities like silent mode, extra leg room, and a general feeling of relaxation.

Users are guaranteed to arrive in comfort with a modern mid-size car that meets minimum legroom requirements, so you can stretch out on your own or avoid knocking knees with friends.

When booking an Uber Comfort, look for additional in-app preferences that allow you to request a specific temperature setting or ask for a quiet ride.

Quiet mode launched recently for Uber Black’s premium customers, who can easily let their chauffeur know they’d rather skip the conversation and travel in silence—a feature now extended to mid-tier riders.

The muted preference can be found under the Conversations tab.

“If you need to respond to emails or are in the mood for a nap, make your trip a quieter one with just one tap,” Uber announced in May. “If you’re in the mood to chat, that’s an option, too.”

Or let the winds of fate decide and select “no preference.”

Drivers must maintain a rating of 4.85 or higher to be eligible for Uber Comfort.

The new option is now available in Arizona (Phoenix and Tucson); California (Fresno, Los Angeles, Orange County, Palm Springs, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco); Connecticut; Florida (Tampa Bay); Georgia (Atlanta); Hawaii (Honolulu); Illinois (Chicago); Indiana (Indianapolis); Kansas (Wichita); Louisiana (New Orleans); Maryland (Baltimore); Massachusetts (Boston); Missouri (Kansas City, St. Louis); Nebraska (Omaha); New Jersey; Nevada (Las Vegas); North Carolina (Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham); Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh); Rhode Island; South Carolina (Charleston); Tennessee (Memphis, Nashville); Texas (Austin, Dallas, Houston); Utah (Salt Lake City); Virginia (Hampton Roads, Richmond); Washington (Seattle); Wisconsin (Madison, Milwaukee), Washington, D.C.; one of the two Portlands (either Oregon or Maine); and Ottawa, Canada.
