Whether you play it on the original Nintendo Switch or the upcoming Nintendo Switch Lite, Super Mario Maker 2 is absolutely one of the best games you can get on Nintendo’s new machine. Building off of the Wii U original’s stellar foundation, the sequel gives you all sorts of tools to build brand new Mario levels limited only by your own creativity. As I said in my review, it’s a surprisingly great tool for bonding as a couple.
However, Super Mario Maker 2 is also great for bloodthirsty competition. We’re not talking about the online race modes, although that is an option. Rather, one of the meta joys of Mario Maker is building the most devious stages possible to torture your friends, family, and in our case co-workers.
Seeing as both I and Kellen Beck of Mashable have spent years writing about video games, naturally we should be pretty good at making them. So we decided to challenge each other to play our Super Mario Maker 2 levels and prove which Ziff website reigns supreme. See the results in the video below.
If you want to try these stages for yourself, here’s the code for my level “1-2 Switch” (HSF-PNL-JQG)
Here’s the code for Kellen’s level “The Gulag” (PRT-GW2-KKF)
