In what is hilariously being called the “Great Mattress Migration of 2019,” dozens of mattresses were sent flying across a lawn in Denver, Colorado on Saturday.
People set up mattresses in the Denver neighborhood of Stapleton for a “movie night under the stars,” but the anchor-less mattresses were no match for the strong winds that swept through the area.
Denver resident Robb Manes captured the “Great Migration” on video and shared it to Reddit and YouTube.
In the video, mattresses can be seen flying through a field, narrowly missing some people who were running after them. Some of the mattresses even flew over a gate and into a community pool with people trying to figure out what was happening.
“We were hanging out at the pool when, suddenly, a mattress flew into the fenced-in area,” Manes said on YouTube. One mattress even landed in the pool, Manes told the Denver Post.
Manes said he and others tried to help a woman running after some of the 50 to 100 mattresses, which were flying for about 30 minutes.
“Although we felt really bad for the event people, we thought it was absolutely hilarious,” Manes said.
