You’ve gotta hand it to the Three Stripes — they’ve got the pop culture collaboration game locked down. Adidas has partnerships with ostensibly the three biggest media brands in the world today (Star Wars, Marvel, and Game of Thrones) and takes full advantage of the opportunities that come with them. The company has dropped about a dozen superhero-themed sneakers in 2019 across many of their lines and silhouettes and also put out a killer line of Thrones-inspired Ultraboosts in the lead-up to the final season of the show. All that’s been absent is a galaxy far, far away. An odd decision, especially considering that both The Mandalorian and Rise of Skywalker are dropping later this year.
It’s now clear that adidas has just been waiting for the right moment, and while it may have come a little sooner than they anticipated thanks to some leaked photos, we’ve gotta say they picked it well. Today, photos of a Star Wars-inspired Ultraboost colorway leaked and it’s a doozy.

The shoe utilizes the brand’s recent S+L variation of the Ultra Boost. This version of the signature shoe of the modern adidas era utilizes an upper comprised of mesh with premium leather detailing on the heel and throughout the rest of the upper. The sole, as always, is made of adidas’s signature Boost material, an ultra lightweight cushioning system that feels, in all sincerity, like walking on a cloud (or the sky, in this case).
The shoe seems to reference the iconic X-Wing rather than a character, film, or moment.

The colors build from a grey and black base with red-orange accents on the stripes and heel tab (ostensibly an homage to the Rebels’ flight suits). The Boost material on the sole features a sort of blueprint-style line drawing of the body of an X-Wing fighter while the heel features similar graphics. A Jedi logo is emblazoned on an embellishment on the laces. It’s all tied together with a detail so good it very nearly tops the “Night Gathers And Now My Watch Begins” detailing on the tongue of the Game of Thrones Night’s Watch Ultraboosts: the iconic phrase “The Force Will be With You Always” printed on the heel tab of each shoe.
As this is technically a leak, there’s no word yet on release details for the shoe — but with Force Friday less than a month away and Star Wars Season nearly upon us, we’ve got a feeling that might change soon. Keep your eyes on Geek.com and other sneaker outlets for more details as they come.
