對於英美政府分別讉責香港「不合理使用致命武力」及敦促各方保持冷靜和克制，在北京，外交部發言人耿爽回應時說，美英貌似公允，但再次暴露出他們是非不分和偽善的面目，他們的口頭正義，再次暴露出他們的雙重標準和別有用心，敦促美、英等國切實尊重中國主權，在涉港問題上謹言慎行，停止以任何形式插手香港事務、干涉中國內政。
耿爽提到，暴徒襲警在先，警方完全是依法處置，孰是孰非，一目了然，無論在任何國家，搶奪警槍，攻擊警察，威脅警察人身安全，都不被允許，會受到警方強力反制，反問這種事件發生在美國、英國時，他們的警察是如何處置。
他又說，香港有暴徒將一名表達反對意見的平民點燃，質疑美英等國為何不作出嚴厲譴責。
耿爽重申，止暴制亂、恢覆秩序是當前香港最重要的任務，是各界最廣泛的共識，中央政府堅定支持香港特區政府依法施政，支持警方嚴正執法、維護社會秩序和保護市民安全。 閱讀全文
