Toy Tuesday: The Best DOTA Toys

Defense Of The Ancients started out as a mod for Warcraft III, became its own game, and started a whole genre of MOBAs. And, because time is a flat circle, now DOTA Auto Chess, which started out as a mod for DOTA II, is inspiring its own genre. DOTA Underlords drops this week, Valve’s official spin on the concept, and we decided to celebrate the wild success of the original game by surveying the most powerful toys on the market for DOTA aficionados.

Techies Nendoroid

Techies Nendoroid

One of the more annoying heroes to fight against in DOTA 2, the Techies are a triad of yellow-skinned saboteurs that prefer to not fight directly, instead working in a support role to lay powerful, invisible mines around the battlefield to prevent foes from charging in to territory. They can also launch a self-damaging kamikaze attack that really sucks to get caught in. Good Smile’s Nendoroid line is perfect for these little buggers, and the level of detail in their sculpts is next level, with tons of unique features and swappable parts.

Nature's Prophet Plush

Nature’s Prophet Plush

Mobility is important in DOTA 2, and few heroes can exploit it quite like Nature’s Prophet. This vegetal druid can teleport around the map, making himself a hassle in myriad locations while also rooting enemies in place with his Sprout spell and then transforming them into minions. He’s also a great farmer, unsurprisingly, with the Wrath of Nature spell chaining hits and increasing in damage with every bounce. This foot-tall plush version has a great facial expression and a long, silky beard for thoughtful combing.

Juggernaut Mask

Juggernaut Mask

If you’re a rushdown player, Yurnero the Juggernaut is the hero for you. One of DOTA 2‘s most iconic characters, this masked brawler can dash into the fray and lay down heavy damage with his blades in a frenzy of strikes. He can also trigger spell immunity and invulnerability, making him impossible to stop if he doesn’t want to be stopped. If you need to bring a little of that attitude into your daily routine, pick up this high-end latex mask that is fitted with mirrored eyeshades so nobody can see your true expression as you pummel them into unconsciousness.

Windranger Figure

Windranger Figure

Lyralei the Windranger is a terror at range, able to use her bow to solo offrange and harass the opponent from a distance. She’s well-known for versatility, though, capable of slotting into numerous roles over the course of a match. Good Smile’s Figma line of action figures match that versatility with extensive jointing that allows her to take a variety of poses when combined with the included stand. Lyralei comes with a pair of faceplates, one with a neutral expression and one focused for aiming. Great paint job is just the icing on the cake for this one.

Roshan PVC Statue

Roshan PVC Statue

The first creep that spawns when you start the game, Roshan the Immortal is a pain in the butt when your heroes are underleveled, giving them something to stay away from until they can build their power and venture into his pit. He also increases in strength over time as the match progresses, meaning that choosing to tackle him is a team decision that can bear great rewards or serious setbacks. Pay tribute to his majesty with this PVC figurine. He stands a little under five inches high and is ready to pounce on unsuspecting victims.

Pudge's Cleaver Replica

Pudge’s Cleaver Replica

One of the unquestioned masters of ganking, Pudge is a melee hero who loves to fling his meat hook at unwary enemies and yank them out of whatever they’re doing and into his reach for huge damage. Even worse, the more kills he racks up, the more powerful he becomes, allowing him to truly become a steamroller that can wreak havoc. We’re not saying that you should attempt to emulate this guy (please don’t emit clouds of toxic gases at the workplace, thank you), but you could pick up a sweet PU foam replica of his signature cleaver weapon and hang it up to deter any unwanted meeting requests.

Spirit Breaker Funko Pop

Spirit Breaker Funko Pop

If you like going one-on-one in the chaos of battle, Barathrum the Spirit Breaker is a dope pick. The massive beast-man delivers huge damage and can plow through lesser foes on the way to his target with the Charge of Darkness. He’s killer close in and can teleport to make it even easier. Funko has kicked out a handful of DOTA Pops, but this one is probably our favorite. The sculpt is really cool and gives the character a bunch of dynamism that you don’t often see, with one arm lifted in the air and the other planted on the ground for stability.

Tidehunter Vinyl Figure

Tidehunter Vinyl Figure

The durable melee hero from the briny deep, Tidehunter is well known for his ability to take no damage from lighter attacks, letting him simply ignore lesser foes as he uses his control of the water to throttle opponents, move them around and reduce their movement speed. This really cool collector’s vinyl figure is based on a sculpt by artists Adam Forman and Nicola Welbourne and delivers a more abstract, cartoony take on the anchor-swinging fishman that is no less badass. The fig stands six inches tall and comes with removable anchor and dead fish.

Anti-Mage Action Figure

Anti-Mage Action Figure

If spellcasters piss you off, this is the guy you want to main. The Anti-Mage is a lightning-quick melee hero who specializes in getting in close to high-mana foes and using their own abilities against them, with Mana Break dealing more damage the more mana they’ve built up. Couple that with a short-distance teleport that lets him blink in, hit hard, and then vanish instantly and you’ve got a real threat. This Good Smile Figma design is full of poseability using the line’s unique flexible plastic to cover joints and comes with a pair of hand blades.

Redpaw Plush

Redpaw Plush

If you’re a DOTA 2 player, you’ve come to love your couriers. These little helpers are the ones that ferry vital items from shops to you on the battlefield, and you’ve got to keep them safe. There are a bunch of different designs for the little guys, but one of the most iconic is the fox Redpaw. This cheerful forest companion is one of the most detailed plushes we’ve ever spotlit in this feature, measuring a foot and a half long with lots of cool little elements, like the rolled up mat and courier bag on his back secured by a belly band.

Crystal Maiden Figurine

Crystal Maiden Figurine

There are certain archetypes that you’re going to get in fantasy games sooner or later, and a frost-wielding ice princess is just one of those. DOTA 2 leans in pretty hard to the trope with Rylai the Crystal Maiden, but what she lacks in originality she more than makes up for in utility. A classic glass cannon, she’s not made to take damage but can seriously dish it out, with huge area of effect nukes that also slow enemies down. This PVC figurine is a solid sculpt with good detail and a nice pose, and stands over eight inches tall so she’ll command attention on your toy shelf.
