Ahead of the upcoming Call of Duty League championship playoffs, Game Rant got the opportunity to sit down and talk with two star players for the London Royal Ravens—twin brothers Bradley and Matthew Marshall, otherwise known as Wuskin and Skrapz, respectively. The twins were affable and shared an immense passion for the game, which came across as we discussed weapons, Warzone, the thrill of competition, and ways to make the game better. Of course, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask the two about their favorite guns, but they also shared some sage advice that should help any player get better at Modern Warfare and Warzone.
Both Wuskin and Skrapz have a long career in Call of Duty esports, with Wuskin having the distinction of being the first player officially announced for Call of Duty League. It is only recently that the two have joined together to play for the London Royal Ravens, but even in their time on other teams, both brothers were considered two of the best, each achieving the title of CWL Pro League All-Star. That alone means their advice on any matters related to Call of Duty should be heeded closely. Luckily, the two were happy to provide plenty of good info to all fans of both Modern Warfare and Warzone.
When asked about their favorite weapons and loadouts, Skrapz’ answer was right in line with Modern Warfare‘s current meta. He answered that he uses both the M4A1 and MP5, and is fond of both weapons. We were also curious about which weapons the twins turn to outside of the fierce competition of pro league play, and their answers were a bit different. Skrapz chose the MP7, saying “Unless I’m getting ready for a tournament, I love using the MP7… I have a lot of fun using that.” Wuskin is an excellent sniper in Modern Warfare and had a different favorite:
The M4 is the obvious one, but I love the HDR. Those are my two sons. In Warzone as well, I love using the HDR. Whenever I’m out in pubs, I like messing around with the Grau, I could make a montage of that thing…. The Deagle is also fun to use. I used it a lot at the start of the game, [and] for a while, I was the only one using it in competitive matches.
To be clear, Wuskin isn’t advocating that players use the Desert Eagle to gain a massive competitive edge, but it is one of the most fun weapons to play with if its user has the skill and accuracy to take advantage of its massive damage. When we asked further about using pro loadouts and advice for improving performance, things got even more interesting. Often, the most popular loadouts in Modern Warfare and Warzone are those lauded by professional players and streamers. We wanted to know what these pros thought about that, and if there are any pitfalls to look out for. Skrapz gave some good advice:
If you’ve got a certain playstyle, some people use the muzzle brake on the MP5 for range, but if you’re more aggressive, you’d replace that with stippled grip tape. In copying a loadout, it’s all dependent on how you play. Copying someone else’s loadout won’t change much.
The twins had a lot more to share about how to improve performance in Call of Duty. One of the first questions we asked was how any player could learn and improve, keeping in mind that there is a huge range of skill levels present in the game. The emphatic answer from both Wuskin and Skrapz was simply that more time in game would make for better gameplay. Skrapz described it like this:
I get asked this question a lot, especially on stream. This is the basic one, as always, and what helped me get to where I am today: putting in a lot of time, and putting in more time than everybody else. I ain’t no special kid or one of them people [who] have magic powers. It’s dedication…. If you’ve got that with you, it’ll help a lot on the way to the top. It helps more than people think. I didn’t do anything different. Focus on putting time in and getting better, improving on your own game, and that’s it. All we do different is play the game 24/7 and treat it like a job.
Wuskin has said very similar things in the past, but he had another great tip to add.
It’s the little things that help. When you’re tuning in, watching a pro player or streamer: look at what he’s doing. Look at the small things that nobody looks at, and if you’ve got that in you, then you’ll see the small things you can improve.
Lastly, we just wanted to know if there was any special sort of mindset that helps these two great players get in the right mood to go into a competition and win. The answer was simple and relatable, as Wuskin quickly said that all he needs is his music. “I need it blasting. That’s what gets me going.”
The upcoming Call of Duty League Championships should be an excellent opportunity to watch these two in action, and there is still plenty of time left in Season 5 to grind out the battle pass and hone one’s skills at the same time.
