The 10 Best Games To Play If You Like Remnant: From The Ashes

If you love the Souls franchise, chances are you’re more than familiar with this title: Remnant: From The Ashes. Just like Souls, its spiritual inspiration, Remnant: From The Ashes is an agonizing-yet-rewarding experience of a post-apocalyptic game. In a fictional world swarmed with an inter-dimensional evil entity, your hero is the last man standing to put an end to the catastrophe once and for all.

If you didn’t get a chance to snatch a free copy of this game while it was free on Epic Games, there are still a plethora of ways to satisfy your need of being challenged or fighting off an evil entity. Check out these top ten must-play games if you love Remnant: From The Ashes.

10 Dark Souls II

The 2014 Dark Souls II is not the game to play if you’re just a casual gamer who wants some action. In fact, just like other titles of this franchise, Dark Souls II requires an over-the-top skill to understand its enemy’s patterns, let alone mastering it.

Just like RemnantDark Souls II also features a co-op play to help you summon help against demonic final bosses. This complex action RPG is available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC gamers.

9 Tom Clancy’s: The Division

Intense, solid, and gut-wrenching. Tom Clancy’s: The Division is a must-play if you love a good co-op game. Set after a deadly pandemic swept the entire New York City, you are the only remaining agent to save what’s left from the dead city.

Just like Remnant, you can also team up with up to three friends in the game. The matchmaking process feels stable & seamless, and you can purchase upgrades to smoothen your way to the top.

8 Resident Evil 2: Remake

Next is Capcom’s Resident Evil 2: Remake. Although this may not be a co-op kind of video game, Resident Evil 2 has all the elements to keep you challenged. If you also happen to love puzzles, then this game is a no-brainer. The final bosses in this game come as a surprise, and if you’re short on supplies, then good luck.

The game starts with two playable protagonists: Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie officer, and Claire Redfield, a college girl trying to find her missing brother. Together, they make their way out of the infected Raccoon City.

7 Days Gone

In a nutshell, Days Gone is the kind of frustrating game where final bosses get extremely unwieldy and unforgiving. Then, before you know your escape and get to fill your bike’s tank, a horde of hundreds of zombies are ready to attack you.

In Days Gone, you are Deacon St. John, an outlaw biker trying to keep his brother alive while connecting the dots of his wife’s disappearance. Unfortunately, Days Gone is a single-player game, and it does not feature a co-op mode, so this may be a deal-breaker if that’s what you’re looking for.

6 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

If the “rage quit” term exists for one game, it should be Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It can get criminally unforgiving; hence Sekiro should never be your consideration if you’re only a casual gamer who does not have the time to master it.

Just like RemnantSekiro is entirely unpredictable, and the kind of intensity that this game gives can get highly infuriating. Again, this game has a minimum multiplayer feature, so that may be another deal-breaker if that’s what you’re looking for.

5 Bloodborne

If Sekiro is hard for you, then wait until you play Bloodborne. Hailed as one of the most demanding games ever, Bloodborne‘s limited co-op system does not really add up to ease the game. Although it’s not entirely useless, as this signature “summoning” mode is still a big help and a fun thing to do if you want to play with a friend.

4 The Last of Us

If you want to step back from fictional settings and relate to the characters’ arc and their struggle more, then play 2013 Last of Us. It centers around a controversial survivor with only a few moral lines to cross, Joel Miller, and how far he can go to protect the life of someone who means the world to him.

Just like Remnant, which also is a post-apocalyptic game, The Last of Us also features plenty of human enemies, infected creatures, and final bosses even though they are not as chaotic as Remnant or any Souls game. This game also features a multiplayer mode where you can gang up with a couple of friends in a death match.

3 Beyond: Two Souls

Next is Quantic Dream’s interactive Ellen Page-starred drama, Beyond: Two Souls. The 2013 game follows a young woman with supernatural powers, Jodie Holmes, and her mysterious entity, Aiden, as they navigate through the themes of heartbreak, loss, and betrayal.

Yes, Beyond: Two Souls also features a co-op multiplayer mode where one player can control Jodie while the other plays as Aiden. On top of that, Beyond: Two Souls has branching storylines that make you want to re-do the game after finishing your first playthrough.

2 Death Stranding

Even though it’s not as difficult as most of the games on this list, Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding is a must-have title if you love a good-paced apocalyptic game. In this game, you play as Sam, a freelance transporter, and his attempt to connect isolated colonies during an unprecedented time.

Death Stranding also features an online mode that incorporates elements of social connection, pretty much like Remnant.

1 The Walking Dead

Telltale’s interactive four-season post-apocalyptic drama Walking Dead is what happens when story-driven Last of Us meets interactive drama à la Beyond: Two Souls. The first season follows Lee and Clementine and their survival path, while the rest follows Clementine’s journey from a child to a survivor.

Even though this game may feel like a little movie night instead of a heart-pacing video game, its rich story is still worth every penny. The third season features a mode called “Crowd Play” where you can cooperate with other friends to form a split-second decision.
