While the craze for rhythm games isn’t what it once was, Harmonix is still rolling out new musical experiences for gamers to enjoy. Today Harmonix announced a release date for its new kind of rhythm game, Fuser, which was revealed earlier this year.
Fuser is a different take on rhythm gaming unlike Rock Band and Guitar Hero, as fans aren’t asked to hit notes on time to play a song. Instead players assume the role as a DJ playing large music festivals and mixing together a list of different songs throughout a performance. The game allows players to create wonderful mashups by combining songs like “Rock The Casbah” and “In Da Club” or musical abominations by mixing songs such as “All-Star” and “Mud On The Tires.”
Harmonix has officially announced that Fuser will be releasing on November 10 for just about every modern console and PC. However, there is currently no announcement of Fuser coming to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, both of which are expected to release this year, with the Xbox Series X specifically confirmed for November.
Recently, Harmonix announced three new songs coming to Fuser, including “Ghosts N Stuff” by Deadmau5. Fuser includes over 100 songs for players to mix together on the fly by combining different parts of each song, other sound effects, and BPM modifiers to create new musical experiences. Success in Fuser is measured by how well players can entertain a crowd with their DJ mashup performance. If the pressure of playing a live show alone is too much, fans can play with friends cooperatively to collaborate on new songs and keeping the audience happy.
Fuser will be coming to PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on November 10.
