Expensive Xbox Series X Price Point Revealed By Pringles Promotion

The Xbox Series X price point has been surrounded by speculation for quite some time now. Potential price point leaks have surfaced multiple times, like the Best Buy leak for the Xbox Series X and PS5 that popped up recently.

Now, it seems another potently leak for the Xbox Series X’s price point may have just appeared from a very unlikely source. Apparently, a Pringles advertisement running in South Africa may have inadvertently revealed the price for Xbox’s next generation console.

Xbox players have been wondering about the final price of the Xbox Series X price for some time now given that more and more information surrounding the console is slowly coming to light. Potential leaks and speculation has lead many to believe the Xbox Series X may be more expensive than be more expensive than some might have originally thought. Unfortunately, it’s all still speculation as Microsoft has yet to officially reveal the console’s price. Now, thanks to some internet sleuthing, math, and a bit of assuming it seems that another potential price point leak for the Xbox Series X may have just been found.

As mentioned above the potential leak comes from a Pringles promotion out of South Africa, where consumers have a chance to win an Xbox Series X in November. A Twitter user going by Cavie found the leak while looking at Pringle’s Facebook page in South Africa. The Facebook page shows a chart explaining the promotion’s prizes, distribution rules, and estimated price of the prizes won. Including the value of the marketing collaboration between companies, the price totals to around R621,000 with each console offered in the price being around R13,500.

Now, when converting 13,500 rand to US dollars, the price comes out to a staggering $814. That’s a very high price point for a console even if it is the latest in next generation technology. However, some have made the very astute observation to instead convert the R13,500 price point into pounds given that US console price points have lined up similarly in the past. The conversion then comes out to a more reasonable £613. While that price point is still a bit higher than some would like, it certainly lines up with past leaks for both the Xbox Series X and PS5’s pricing leaks.

Of course, it’s always important to remember that this leak is still shrouded in hearsay and assumptions. Still, it’s noteworthy that the price point lines up with past leaks all the same. Unfortunately, Xbox fans won’t know the official price of the Xbox Series X until Microsoft officially confirms it. Recent reports have said that Series X’s release date reveal was delayed by Microsoft, so fans may be in for the long haul in the leadup to the console’s release.
