Super Mario 3D All-Stars is set to release in a few days, and interestingly enough, the game is currently sold out in most retailers. Of course, fans who are willing to do some deep digging to look for a physical copy or purchase via digital storefronts, are in for a treat given that Super Mario 3D All-Stars is jam-packed with three iconic games for the Nintendo Switch.
However, one thing that players should note is that Super Mario 3D All-Stars will only be available for a limited time, and players will only be able to purchase both the physical and digital versions until March 2021. Now, players who are interested in purchasing Super Mario 3D All-Stars but is still unsure whether the game is a worthy purchase, here is a breakdown of everything players should know before purchasing the game.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a bundle of three classic Mario games in one exciting package. The games included are Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. It is also worth noting that this will be the first time all of these classic games will be playable on the Switch, allowing veteran players to relive re-live these iconic games while also introducing them to a whole new generation of players on Nintendo’s hybrid platform.
To the uninitiated, Super Mario 64 has been ported to other Nintendo consoles ever since its first release back in 1996 on the Nintendo 64. On the other hand, Super Mario Sunshine became the flagship Mario game on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2002, and Super Mario Galaxy was released to the Nintendo Wii in 2007. Unfortunately, its 2010 sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is not included in the bundle, and it is currently unclear whether Nintendo has any plans of releasing it to the Switch sometime in the future.
For those wondering on whether these games are just mere ports or remasters of the original would be happy to know that Nintendo will be introducing some modern upgrades to the entire collection. However, it is worth noting that the graphics, apart from some touch-ups, would remain the same, and the gameplay will be faithful to their original counterparts. For Super Mario Galaxy, Nintendo is making motion-controls optional, which means that the game will be supporting multiple controller options for all three games.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be including a music player mode, allowing players to listen to various songs from the three Mario games included. According to Nintendo, the music player will feature over 170 songs to celebrate the 24 years of 3D Mario history. Some tunes that players should expect to here include the likes of Dire, Dire Docks, Bianco Hills, and the Honey Bee Kingdom on the go, to name a few.
During Nintendo’s announcement of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, the company revealed that the game will launch on the Switch on September 18, 2020, which is just over two weeks after it was first revealed. As previously stated, the release will be limited, and the physical and digital versions of the game will only be available until March 31, 2021. As far as price is concerned, Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be available for the standard price of $59.99 and will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
Now, players who pre-order Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be receiving some physical goodies such as three sets of magnets, each will feature the three games from the collection. Each magnet sheet will also include 10 themed magnets that will feature fan-favorite characters such as F.L.U.D.D and Rosalina. Additionally, those who will pre-order at Walmart will receive three sheets of themed stickers. On the other hand, GameStop is offering themed Joy-Con covers that will include three classically-designed Marios.
