Fortnite Players Are Burning Out On Season 4’s Grind | Game Rant

While many players were initially excited to hear that Season 4 of Fortnite would be full of Marvel content, many players are finding themselves frustrated and tired out at this point in the season. The grind and content level for the popular battle royale is just proving to be too much for some players, who are burning out even as more Marvel content is promised for Fortnite.

Players have seen tons of superheroes come to Fortnite Season 4’s crossover event, as well as locations like Tony Stark’s laboratories. There are lots of new challenges and enemies, and some players have gotten creative with the superheroes (like making Wolverine chase down Iron Man), yet not everyone is enjoying the huge amount of content.

The battle pass has over 200 tiers, and simply put, it’s taking players hours upon hours to get through them and unlock the various rewards in Fortnite. To many players, the tiers are running together, and some people are hopeless of ever reaching 220. Although the number is reachable if players put in enough time, it’s become enough of a drag that some people just aren’t enjoying it. Fortnite is a game, and for many players, the primary purpose of playing a game is to enjoy it.

Fortnite Season 4 Week 8 is here, which means that players have been consuming the same content for over a month. Sure, there’s been regular new updates like Daredevil and the upcoming teasers about Galactus, but many people are questioning if putting in all the time is even worth it. Some players are even resorting to bundles in the shop that can level up a character automatically, instead of playing several games a day.

Many players are having to resort to different methods of finding the fun in character advancement now, like idling in Creative Mode or finding hidden coins. Epic says there are more Marvel-themed surprises coming to Fortnite, but that will probably include new items, locations, and characters like usual, not a major change to the advancement system. Of course, seeing one’s favorite superhero or interacting with new content can help players break out of a funk, but 220 is a lot even then.

None of this is to say that Fortnite is seeing a large drop in popularity, although Epic’s ongoing lawsuit with Apple isn’t helping Fortnite‘s numbers. And many players are still enjoying the time they get to spend in the game, and not worrying so much about advancement and rewards. After all, there are many types of players, and while some prefer checking every box, some people are more casual players and just log on for an hour or two to have fun. And with so much content coming out, there’s something for just about everyone.

Fortnite is available for mobile devices, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
