The Perfect Movie Soundtracks for Every Kind of Mood | Game Rant

A good movie truly is nothing without an equally good soundtrack. While a full orchestral suite is the way to go for films aiming for Best Original Score awards, lyrical songs are always welcome. A good playlist means top-tier marketing, which is also why companies go as far as making original pop songs for their films to hit the charts and spread the word. So here are just a few movies that have some of the best playlists to go off to.

A great playlist, whether made up of songs crafted just for the movie or not, can elevate a movie beyond its story and characters. What is Flashdance without “Maniac”? Footloose without “Let’s Hear it for the Boy”? Or Black Panther without…well, everything. Fire up the Spotify and add these phenomenal movie playlists that make you feel like your back in the theater.

Marvel formulated this movie’s playlist to be iconic as possible and boy did they deliver. The second Chris Pratt turned on his Walkman and danced to “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone was the moment audiences knew this would be a different kind of Marvel movie. Guardians of the Galaxy brought 60s and 70s hits like “Cherry Bomb” and “Hooked on a Feeling” to the 2010s. Teenagers who loved the movie jammed out to their parents’ favorite songs, while older fans relished in the nostalgia as the new franchise was born.

A fun zombie romance movie with a soundtrack that gives off the “main character” feeling that can only be felt after walking out of a move theater. Like Guardians of the Galaxy, none of the songs were made specifically for the film. The playlist includes old songs like “Hungry Heart” by Bruce Springsteen and “Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison, along with newer songs like “Midnight City” by M83 and “Family Romance” by Department of Eagles. Despite the huge age range of these different songs, the soundtrack retains the hipster vibes that were so popular back in 2013 when Warm Bodies was released.

The Twilight movies were really…something. Even the stars of the series, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, don’t have many good things to say about the movies that jumpstarted their acting careers. However, even those who hate Twilight with every fiber of their beings have to admit that their soundtracks slap. The first Twilight movie started off with Muse and Paramore, so it was bound to get better from there. New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn blessed audiences with beautiful songs by Sleeping At Last, Florence + The Machine, and Passion Pit. Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” went on to become a massive hit, but songs like “Turning Page” and “Decode” still remain fan favorites.

There is no other soundtrack that can compare to that of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This particular movie, featuring the character Miles Morales, stands out since many of its scenes were made to accompany the music, resulting in one of the most memorable animated films of the 2010s. It’s no wonder it received the Oscar for Best Animated Feature back in 2018. “What’s Up Danger” by Black Caviar and Blackway, and “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee hog the spotlight for being the most popular songs from the movie, but honorable mentions should include “Elevate”, “Way Up”, and of course, “Spidey-Bells” sung by Chris Pine.

The Hunger Games movie started out with a budget of $78 million and ended up being presented like an indie movie through its visuals and soundtrack. They even got Taylor Swift to sing “Safe and Sound” with The Civil Wars before she became America’s pop sensation. Then when the budget grew in the sequels, so did the star-studded soundtrack. Sia, Ellie Goulding, Imagine Dragons, and even Ariana Grande added their songs and voices to one of the most influential film adaptations of a YA series. Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat” hit the charts as the last movie ended the franchise’s reign.
