Milla Jovovich Comes to Monster Hunter World in Movie Crossover Event

In celebration of the upcoming Monter Hunter film, Monster Hunter World is receiving some pretty neat content. Milla Jovovich, star of the Monster Hunter movie (as well as the Resident Evil films before it), is headed to Monster Hunter World in an exciting crossover.

Captain Natalie Artemis will be coming to the well-received Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on December 4, 2020. The in-game model is based on Milla Jovovich and her character in the movie. In the video that was released to announce the content, Capcom advertises the move as the ability to be Artemis before one sees Artemis in the movie. Players will be able to take down the game’s massive monsters with the agile and powerful Captain Natalie Artemis.

The Monster Hunter film is expected to do well, so much so that the writer has already started working on Monster Hunter 2. It makes a lot of sense, as the Resident Evil films have grossed over $1.2 billion dollars with a total budget of under $300 million. Of course, those Resident Evil flicks are also a Capcom entity starring Milla Jovovich. The Monster Hunter movie has a budget of just $60 million, meaning it won’t take much to break even and start building up a nice profit.

The Monster Hunter meets Monster Hunter crossover is one that could draw a bit more excitement to the movie. Milla Jovovich is a well-known actress in the world of video game movies, and being able to play as her in-game is certainly interesting. However, these crossovers can also start to get confusing. The movie is based on the video game license, and now a character from the movie that is based on the game makes an appearance in the game.

Monster Hunter World is directly competing against Wonder Women 1984 in December, as both movies are releasing the same week. This year has been a difficult one for Hollywood and specifically theaters that have either been shut down, limited, or simply affected by those who are choosing to stay at home in an attempt to be safe.

The Monster Hunter movie is looking to try some interesting things while staying true to its source material. The Monster Hunter film will even be bringing cats into the mix, just as the game has them as lovable sidekicks. The more the game and movie share ideas and content, which includes Milla Jovovich and Captain Natalie Artemis, the more likely the movie will feel like it is truly a part of the Monster Hunter experience as a whole.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is out now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
