GTA Online’s new Cayo Perico Heist offers lucrative rewards to players who complete all of its missions. However, those missions can take some time to complete, as players must first prep for the heist by carrying out various tasks around the island location. Luckily, one prominent GTA Online player has discovered an exploit that brings Pegasus vehicles to the island for faster scouting.
The Cayo Perico Heist revolves around stealing from a drug lord known as El Rubio, who has taken up residence on the Caribbean island. The heist begins by meeting a contact at The Diamond Casino and Resort, who gives the player a mission to sneak onto the island and gather intel on El Rubio. After that, players must complete a series of prep missions before the actual heist begins. These prep missions can take a long time to complete, as players must traverse the island without a vehicle and will be sent back to Los Santos if they alert the guards.
But by using the exploit, players can bring a Pegasus vehicle to the island to make scouting the new location much easier. The exploit was reportedly discovered by Twitter user NuroCitrix, who creates videos about GTA Online tips and tricks. To use the exploit, players must first purchase a floatable vehicle from the Pegasus service.
NuroCitrix recommends using a Dodo plane, as it can float on water and fly. A boat will also work, but is more likely to alert guards once brought to the island. After purchasing the vehicle, fly or drive it to the bottom right corner of the Los Santos map, exit, and die in the ocean. The vehicle will then spawn off the coast of Cayo Perico the next time the player visits the island.
This exploit is best used to scout the island from afar, as driving a Dodo plane or a boat near enemies will alert them and cause players to be transported back to Los Santos. It is also worth remembering that weapons are disabled during the prep phase of the heist, so purchasing a gunboat in hopes of using it against the island’s guards would be pointless. While this trick appears harmless, it may still be removed by Rockstar in a future patch.
Besides the Cayo Perico Heist released a few weeks ago, Rockstar has also released a GTA Online update that brings snowfall and holiday decorations to southern Los Santos. The update is in effect until December 30.
GTA Online is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in development.
