Hood: Outlaws and Legends Shows Off Hunter Class | Game Rant

Hood: Outlaws and Legends is shaping up to be one of the most interesting multiplayer titles of 2021, with tons of unique character classes and systems for players to experiment with. The game is already shaping up to be one of the biggest releases in May 2021, going up against games like Resident Evil Village and Deathloop.

Leading up to release, publisher Focus Home Interactive has put out several videos highlighting the game’s multiplayer modes and character classes. Now, the most recent character trailer focuses around Hood: Outlaws and Legends‘ stealth-oriented Hunter class, which should prove quite effective for players who enjoy stealth games.

For those who may be unfamiliar with Hood: Outlaws and Legends, the game is a third-persona PvPvE multiplayer title centered around heist missions. The game pits two teams of four unique characters against each other, with the aim of each team being to evade the roaming guards and steal the treasure they’re guarding before the other team gets there first. Hood: Outlaws and Legends is set in a medieval fantasy world with dark and gritty undertones similar to the Witcher series. So far, Hoods: Outlaws and Legends has revealed four different classes with the most recent trailer highlighting the Hunter.

The Hunter class is heavily themed around stealth, with the ability to cloak herself in invisibility magic and silently take down unsuspecting guards. The Hunter also comes equipped with smoke bombs, which can be used for a variety of different situations such as assassinations, getaways, and distractions. The Hunter’s main weapon is an arm-mounted crossbow with the ability to fire three bolts simultaneously. However, unlike Hood: Outlaws and Legends‘ Ranger class who is most effective at long range, the Hunter is much more suited to closer or more mid-range combat.

The Hunter seems to be most useful up close, considering she has the ability to completely neutralize guards quickly, provided she remains undetected. One potential drawback that the Hunter class brings is the time it takes for her to neutralize enemies. The aim of a match is to reach the treasure before the opposing team, so if the Hunter takes too long to take out the guards in a specific path, the other team may end up reaching the treasure first. All in all, it seems like the Hunter is a class for players who want to take a slower approach, as opposed to the Brawler’s more fast-paced action-oriented approach.

Still, if players are careful in their planning, the Hunter could prove to be one of the most vital classes in a given match. With the Hunter’s almost Assassin’s Creed-esque gameplay style, she could prove especially effective in the right hands. It seems like Hood: Outlaws and Legends has a lot of variety in the classes available for players to choose. Hopefully, the game lives up to the mountains of potential visible with each subsequent gameplay trailer and class showcase.

Hoods: Outlaws and Legends releases on May 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
