10 Hilarious Superman Memes That Prove The Movies Make No Sense

Superman is one of the oldest and most popular superheroes of all time. Some people don’t like him because of his clean-cut personality but it’s impossible to deny his significance. As one of the leading members of the Justice League, Superman appeared in live-action feature films multiple times. Sometimes he was on his own, but other times, he joined forces with different superheroes.

The latest film version of Superman appeared in the DCEU. Henry Cavill portrayed the man of steel. While there are a lot of great things about his Superman, some things don’t make so much sense, as many Superman memes demonstrate.

10 Don’t Take The Man’s Balloons!

One of the things that didn’t sit so well with the fans is how dark Superman is in the DCEU. In the comics, Superman does have his weak moments, like everyone, but mostly, he retains his optimism, his belief that things will work out for the best. That’s what makes him a symbol of hope and differentiates him from other heroes. The DCEU makes Superman grim and as far from a symbol of hope as possible. Just give the man some balloons!

9 A Serious Burn

Superman suspects Batman of being a bad guy in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). He knows what Batman has done in the past and that he’s killed others. Yet when Batman threatens Superman by asking him whether he bleeds, Superman just ignores it and flies off. He should have known better than underestimate Batman. Especially after everything he’s learned about the masked vigilante.

8 Retaliation Tastes Sweet

Speaking of the tension-filled meeting between Batman and Superman, there are multiple ways Superman could have reacted. And almost all of them are better than just flying off and ignoring Batman’s threat. Superman doesn’t like to kill people, that’s a well-known fact. But he could at least limit Batman’s activity by blowing up his car. It wouldn’t kill Batman but it would slow him down and make him see he shouldn’t mess with Superman.

7 Deadpool Disapproves

It looks like the ‘save Martha’ jokes and scenes will exist forever. Even though the film premiered a while back, fans are always quick to point out this plot twist doesn’t make any sense. And it wouldn’t be Deadpool if he didn’t call the screenwriters out for their lazy writing.

Deadpool is Marvel and Superman is DC but boundaries between different superhero universes never stopped Deadpool. After all, he keeps on breaking the fourth wall in his comic-book adventures.

6 The Worst Fight

Justice League (2017) did some things right but it also had plenty of weak points. That’s why many fans are so excited to watch the upcoming Snyder Cut of the film. One of the weirdest scenes happened when the Flash tried to fight Superman but Superman noticed him running around. It may have sounded good on paper but the final look of the scene was far from stellar. Possibly because of bad CGI and Flash’s strange expression. In the end, it’s a good thing the story will get a do-over.

5 Wonder Woman Does It Better

Wonder Woman is the only DCEU superhero who has two solo movies to her name – and for a good reason. Fans love her and the first film, Wonder Woman (2017), was a clear hit both with the audience and the critics. It’s still strange the DCEU couldn’t make Superman’s storyline work even though he’s a much more famous hero. Wonder Woman is one of the three core members of the Justice League but it’s Superman who had multiple film adaptations before. Yet in the DCEU, their roles are reversed.

4 An Obvious Twist

Another thing that’s not so amazing about Justice League is the final Superman twist. The film spends a lot of time establishing the fact that Superman is dead, the world misses him, and the heroes need his help.

Except Superman isn’t really gone for good, and the remaining two things are equally obvious. So when Superman finally shows up, it was a long time coming and it will hardly surprise anyone.

3 Magical Glasses

To be fair, this doesn’t happen only in the DCEU. However, the suspension of disbelief must be really strong. Otherwise, the fans simply won’t understand how can people not notice Clark Kent is Superman. The glasses and different hairstyles aside, Clark Kent and Superman at the very least look like twin brothers. Unless the theory that no-one actually pays attention to Clark Kent takes hold. But that’s also unlikely, considering Henry Cavill rocks the glasses.

2 The Mystery Of The Missing Mustache

Superman’s weird CGI lip that’s supposed to cover his erased mustache is a grateful source of humor for the fans. And it’s unlikely they will stop making fun of it anytime soon. It looks too unnatural and creepy. It draws attention away from Henry Cavill’s performance. In some scenes, it’s more obvious in others but overall, one would think the studio would make sure a blunder like this wouldn’t happen.

1 Superman’s Limited Emotions

Henry Cavill has a lot of films under his belt and he recently shone as the Witcher Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. Yet something went wrong with his Superman role in the DCEU. Perhaps it’s because of the scripts or the limited space Superman had in the subsequent movies, especially Justice League. Or perhaps it’s because this Superman was very different from other Superman portrayals. Either way, his characterization fell short, and nowadays, people more often remember the bad things about him than the good ones.
