Horizon Zero Dawn: How To Find Bluegleam | Game Rant

Those looking to visit The Cut in Horizon Zero Dawn as part of the Frozen Wilds DLC will need to be prepared to experience a much different atmosphere than any other place in the game. This includes new machines, new characters, and new items. This also means a new currency in the game known as Bluegleam.

Bluegleam are frozen shards found on the bodies of dead machines across the new area. The resource is very rare as there are only 100 Bluegleam available per playthrough. Luckily, this is the exact amount needed to buy everything that requires the currency in a trade.

There are two ways in which players can collect Bluegleam. Players who are looking out for the Bluegleam while traveling across The Cut should look for a shiny blue crystal that is growing out of the dead machines lying in the snow. These crystalized machines are best found high up in the mountains. Of course, it’s not easy to just have an eye on this stuff while moving around the giant area. Fortunately, players can purchase a Bluegleam Map that costs 250 Metal Shards, one Badger Bone, and one Goat Skin. This will highlight where Bluegleam is located on the area map.

The other method of getting Bluegleam is by completing missions in the Frozen Wilds DLC. All of the main quests and side quests in The Cut will reward the player some amount of Bluegleam. The biggest reward is for players completing “For the Werak,” with 8 Bluegleam available. Other quest rewards range from 3 to 7 Bluegleam depending on the mission. Regardless, this means that players will need to complete the fundamental storylines of the DLC in order to purchase some of the items.

So what is the point of collecting all of these shards? There are 11 items that Bluegleam Merchants in The Cut sell to Aloy. Each item can only be purchased once in a single playthrough. These items can be separated into three categories: Boxes, Outfits, and Weapons.

There are five boxes in all. The Banuk Gambler’s Box (1 Bluegleam) rewards 50 Shard Gambler’s Boxes. The Banuk Glacier Box (4) gives the player a Spear Damage Coil. The Banuk Nesting Box (2) includes boxes within boxes, but overall rewards 225 Wire, one Owl Skin, and a Lone Sock. The Banuk Snowfall Box (2) gives 500 Metal Shards, two Crystal Braiding, and two Luminous Braiding. The Banuk Tundra Box (1) rewards 500 Metal Shards, one Rat Skin, one Racoon Skin, and one Goose Skin.

There are three outfits available for purchase. The Banuk Ice Hunter Master (14) gives players a freeze resistance of 60. The Carja Blazon Master (16) takes on the opposite element and provides a 60 resist fire effect when equipped. Finally, the Nora Silent Hunter (18) has a 30 stealth effect added to it but also has an additional modification spot.

Finally, the three weapons available to purchase are all bows. Each of them falls under a specific type. The Banuk Champion Bow (12) is a War Bow. The Banuk Powershot Bow (14) is a Sharpshot Bow. Lastly, the Banuk Striker Bow (16) is a Hunter Bow. All of these have superior-to-nearly-superior base stats than any other bows in each of their respective classes.
