How to Prepare for Mass Effect Legendary Edition | Game Rant

For some fans, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition feels like it’s right around the corner. For others, it still feels like it’s two long months away. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be great for both new and returning fans because it’s simply a remastered version of the original trilogy. New fans can jump right in with the advanced graphics and controls, and long-time fans get to re-experience the game they previously fell in love with. On the surface, Mass Effect may not seem like a game for all, but if players look deep enough, there’s definitely something for everyone in the original trilogy.

Whether Mass Effect Legendary Edition feels closer now than before or a galaxy away, players can already start preparing for the release of the remastered trilogy now. Considering that the original Mass Effect came out in 2007 and the trilogy concluded in 2012, some fans have been waiting a very long time for this remaster. Others may have gotten into the series after it concluded, but are still very excited for the updated controls and stunning graphic upgrades. Regardless, if a player is new or returning, there may be some things that will help prepare them for the galactic journey ahead.

This will apply more to established fans rather than new ones, but it still rings true. To prepare for the release and subsequent playing of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, fans should wear their favorite Mass Effect merchandise if they have any. The BioWare store is back up and running after taking a hiatus from April 2018 to July 2020, so players can stock up if they feel so inclined. At the very least, it’s always fun to put on Mass Effect-themed socks or a beanie and play the game.

The Paragon or Renegade choice system is one of the most well-known mechanics of the Mass Effect trilogy. Every playthrough can be a unique combination of Paragon and Renegade actions. Some players can’t stomach being mean to the NPCs, so they opt to not do any Renegade options throughout the trilogy.

Others aren’t as gentle with the NPCs and opt for a full-Renegade run instead. Sometimes, players follow the middle of the road, being both Paragon and Renegade whenever they choose. Ultimately, the choice is up to the player. However, they need to be confident in their decision, because sometimes actions in Mass Effect have major consequences down the road.

Mass Effect is built on a choice system. Every choice will lead to an outcome that can be considered “good” or “bad.” Sometimes, if players don’t choose correctly, someone ends up dead. This is very apparent with the Mass Effect 2 Suicide Mission, where everyone can die if the mission isn’t handled correctly. The stakes in Mass Effect 3 are even higher, as it’s the final game in the trilogy and the fate of the Milky Way rests on Commander Shepard’s shoulders.

There are moments that make players laugh, but there are an equal amount of moments that make them cry. As a franchise, Mass Effect lets players get to know the cast of characters, leading to a connection with the NPCs — some can even be romanced. But when gut-wrenching things happen, it’s not just Commander Shepard who’s affected, the player behind the controller is as well. Throughout three games, Mass Effect is an epic journey that will take players on a roller coaster of emotion and it’s best to be prepared for that upfront.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a treat for established fans and a great gateway for new fans to get into the franchise. The journey may not always be easy, but there’s a reason it’s being remastered and talked about over 10 years after its debut.
