New PlayStation Now Subscribers Have a Chance to Earn Extra Store Wallet Credit

Subscription services are increasingly becoming a part of gamers’ vocabulary, as Sony and Microsoft build catalogs of games for players to access. With console spending topping $50 billion in 2020, and a growing chunk of that revenue coming from subscriptions, consoles are looking to entice gamers with the best selection of games available on the market. As part of its ‘Mega March’ sale, the PlayStation Store is offering a deal on its PlayStation Now service that could sway a few people over to service.

In recent months, a good deal of attention regarding subscription services has been focused on Xbox’s Game Pass, which is adding a slew of games to the service. After adding 20 Bethesda titles to Xbox Game Pass, the service is making a big push to have the best stable of games. With all this headline making, it should come as no surprise that PlayStation is countering with deals on its own service.

PlayStation Now is also adding a number of games to its rotation, but the big draw from now until March 23 at 10 am PST is a $15 PlayStation Store credit available to any new 12-month subscribers to PS Now. Existing customers cannot pick up the offer, but if someone was previously a customer, but is currently not a subscriber, the deal applies to them as well. Over in the UK, the deal is for £15 in “PS Store Wallet Funds” and in an unusual move, in Canada the PS Now offer is a 25% savings on the 12-month subscription, bringing the price down to $59.99 CDN.

With the new console generation in full swing, despite shortages making it hard to acquire an Xbox Series X or PS5, both of the major players are trying to tempt customers over to their new hardware and establish a solid subscription service is part of that plan. While Xbox Game Pass has made a hard push, PlayStation Now shouldn’t be slept on, as it offers a number of quality games like Bloodborne and Horizon Zero Dawn that can’t be found anywhere else.

Much in the same way that TV streaming services rotate through shows and then remove them off the service, the same happens on PS Now and Xbox Game Pass, so gamers considering jumping on this deal should keep that in mind. The recent addition World War Z will drop off of PS Now on September 6, so the service does give a fair amount of time for gamers to pick up and play a game without feeling too rushed. Though the limited-time engagements might turn off some folks.
