‘The Witcher’ Season 2 Wraps Filming, Henry Cavill Gives Crew Gifts

A little over one year since it first starting filming its second season, The Witcher has slain the hideous monster that is COVID-19 delays. This means fans now only have to wait for it to clear the editing room main quest before they get to see it on Netflix.

News of The Witcher’s filming being done was mostly shared throughout social media by several crew members since Wednesday. However, actress Freya Allan had already hinted this was her last week on set, after which Geralt’s training lessons with Ciri would be complete.

The first of these posts came from the woman responsible for making Henry Cavill – perhaps best known as Superman in the DCEU franchise – look the part as Geralt of Rivia, hair and makeup artist Jacqueline Rathore, who shared an Instagram story saying most of the cast and crew of The Witcher were already done, although all on-set work would officially be finished by April 1. Recently, The Witcher had grabbed some headlines due to the production team confirming new cast arrivals in the Continent, which includes stars from notable franchises such as The Hobbit films and Netflix’s own Bridgerton, as well as the much-hyped leak that Geralt could be encountering the Wild Hunt this season.

One man who took the opportunity to celebrate the milestone was ever the gentleman Cavill, who – as has become customary for him – gave some presents to crew members to show his appreciation for their hard work. In the past, Cavill had shown some love for The Witcher 3’s Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle by sending him a Christmas present, and this time around the lucky crew got some signed goodies from the actor.

It bears saying getting some hand-signed memorabilia from Cavill usually comes with a personal comment from the actor, which does speak volumes of the kinds of on-set vibes The Witcher has going for its second season. Considering an injury sustained by Cavill was one of the many events that forced production delays, it’s safe to say everyone was probably wishing him a very speedy recovery.

With filming work done, fans will now be waiting for a release date that most likely will place towards the end of the year. The Witcher‘s second season promises Geralt will be facing destiny and also encounters with some of his Witcher peers, like his own father figure Vesemir, who is definitely not played by Mark Hamill.

The Witcher season two is coming to Netflix in 2021.
