Sony’s found itself in the news frequently as of late. Following a report from Bloomberg that implied Sony only cared about its biggest blockbuster franchises — a move that I think is shooting itself in the foot — Push Square has found a job listing that indicates PlayStation wants to bring these very same blockbusters to mobile.

Die, die, and die again.

It’s not Dishonored 3 or Prey 2, but a new IP is always welcome. On Bethesda’s stage at E3 2019, Arkane Studios introduced Deathloop to the world. It looks awesome and trippy in all the right ways, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it when it releases for PS5 and PC.

What is Deathloop?

Deathloop is a new IP developed by Arkane Studios. According to the studio, it will be a 1st-person action game that follows two assassins on an island who are hunting each other down. As the name suggests, our two characters appear to be stuck in a time loop, much like the movie Edge of Tomorrow — or Live. Die. Repeat., as the film was retroactively named.

As a newcomer to the series, I can’t help but feel other side-scrolling platformers just do it better.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is the latest entry in the long-running franchise and a reimagining of sorts of Abe’s Exoddus from 1998. I wasn’t incredibly familiar with the series other than hearing about it in passing, but I do have a soft spot for side-scrolling platformers, so when Sony announced that Soulstorm was launching into PlayStation Plus on PS5, I was eager to try it out. It’s… ok.

I’ve seen several critics more familiar with the series praise Soulstorm’s improved platforming, and if that’s true, that’s actually really concerning to me. I found the platforming in Soulstorm to be rather stiff and janky. Without great precision, I ended up dying all too often when I’d miss a jump or fall off a ledge only to find myself face to face with a Slig. Abe’s arms are no match for a gun.

Looking buy a PS5? Well, so do millions of other people and the stock levels that we’ve seen so far are tight. Every time a retailer puts stock up for sale, it sells out super quickly. The longest we’ve seen them stay in stock is maybe 15 – 20 minutes (usually just a few minutes, though), and that’s at random times, so finding one for yourself can be a difficult task. Sony has warned that it will be hard to find stock throughout the year, but retailers are promising more is coming.

In our PS5 review, we called it a technical marvel with a groundbreaking controller. After spending a few months with it now, it’s nearly impossible to go back to the PS4. Everything about the PS5 is better, and you’ll want to experience it for yourself whenever you get the chance.

Deathloop has been delayed again to September 14, 2021.
It was first meant to release with the launch of the PS5 before being bumped to May.
The game follows two assassins stuck in a time loop. In order to break the loop, you’ll need to take out eight targets across the island.
Though Arkane is now a studio under Xbox, Deathloop is set to release on PS5 and PC.

Deathloop is the latest game to get hit with a delay. The immersive sim will now launch on September 14, 2021 for PS5 and PC. Arkane made this decision in order to give the team more time to accomplish its goal: to “create a fun, stylish, and mind-bending player experience.”

Capcom has announced a new Resident Evil Village showcase set to premiere on April 15.
The showcase promises a new trailer and gameplay along with a few surprises.
There are rumors that a new Resident Evil Village demo will drop on PlayStation as well.

We’re one week away from a new Resident Evil Village showcase. Capcom announced that the next is set to air on April 15 and will feature a look at some new gameplay along with a trailer. Judging by the teaser video that accompanied the announcement, we could be seeing a human processing plant along with more of Lady Dimitrescu. You’ll find I have no complaints on the latter.

The showcase is set to take place on April 15 at 6pm ET / 3pm PT, and you can watch it through the series’ social channels on YouTube and Twitch. The last showcase in January ended with a demo being available on PS5, and it appears that may be the case this time as well…

The Seiren X is great for entry-level streamers, but maybe not for everyone.

I’ve had the opportunity to review the Yeti X and Elgato Wave 3 recently, both excellent microphones for game streaming. The last microphone I have on the docket (for now) is the Razer Seiren X, coincidentally the cheapest and smallest of the bunch.

I’ve used a few Razer headsets over the years — even reviewing the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro and Razer Kraken X — but this is the first dedicated microphone I’ve tried out from the company. While it lacks some of the features on the other microphones I’ve taken a look at, it’s well worth what you’re spending on it, and I’m happy with what Razer was able to deliver.

The Razer Seiren X is officially licensed for the PS4 but works with PS5 as well, so game streamers should have no major issue with it no matter if they’ve been able to buy a PS5 or not.
