A brand new tournament is set to begin in Fortnite. Lachlan’s Pickaxe Frenzy will begin on Sunday, November 8, and players will be able to earn Lachlan’s Cosmetic Set, as it will eventually be in the Fortnite shop
Lachlan will join like likes of Marshmello and Travis Scott with his own Icon Series skin. The Icon Series is content within Fortnite that is based on real-world entertainers, content creators, and more. Earlier this year, Loserfruit received a Fortnite skin, so now it is Lachlan’s turn. The gear will be in the store, but players can also win the set.
To play in the tournament, players will need to join up as a three-person team. Players will use only a pickaxe as a primary weapon, and they need to search for Rusty Cans, Impulse Grenades, Decoy Grenades, and Supply Drops to battle it out against opponents. There will also be no shields or healing items, but eliminations and Emotes in Fortnite will regenerate health. Building will also be extremely limited, as there will be a cap of 10 for each material.
The Lachlan Pickaxe Frenzy set will include Lachlan’s skin, a Back Bling, pickaxe, and Emote. Lachlan’s skin hasn’t yet been revealed, but the accuracy of Loserfruit and Ninja’s Fortnite Skin show that Lachlan’s likeness in the battle royale will likely be impressive. Although the Icon Series has included rappers and DJs, Lachlan, Ninja, and Loserfruit will now be the only content creators/streamers that have graced their presence in the game.
This isn’t the first Lachlan-based event for Fortnite. Lachlan partnered with Fortnite for a fun fashion show earlier in the year, with $20,000 in prizes. Epic Games’ ultra-popular multiplayer game continues to be a home of success for content creators around the world, whether through streaming or partnered fun with Epic.
Even those way outside of gaming have gotten involved with Fortnite, as even Joe Biden has his own map in Fortnite. The presidential candidate also showed off an island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Video games, especially those that have vaulted into popularity within pop-culture, have proven to be an excellent way to get across a message or grow one’s brand. Lachlan’s tournament is a perfect example of this. It’s exciting for players to be able to have the opportunity to win unique prizes, and for Lachlan himself, the idea of now being inside of a game that helped grow his popularity is certainly pretty remarkable.
Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
